Memphis Tigers
Despite never playing in a major conference (i.e. ACC, Big East, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac 10 and SEC), Memphis has long been a dominant basketball program. Through the 80s and 90s, coach Larry Finch led the Tigers to 220 wins. John Calipari took the program over in 2000 and reached the Elite Eight in 2006, 2007 and 2008. Memphis produced several NBA players throughout the years, including All Star guard Penny Hardaway and current NBA star Derrick Rose.
