The Orange are coming off one of their best seasons ever, a 30-5 campaign that included a 15-3 record in the Big East, good enough to win the conference. Though Syracuse loses three starters, it does return shooting guard Scoop Jardine, small forward Kris Joseph and power forward Rick Jackson, keys to the team’s success last season, who combine for 30 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists per game.
The Orange do lose big man Arinze Onuaku and three point specialist Andy Rautins, but head coach Jim Boeheim is confident that his team is up to the task of replacing them with just as much talent as before.
Syracuse is blessed with good recruiting and should have a bit of depth, albeit unproven, on the bench to help spell the threesome of Jardine, Joseph and Jackson. This should be a Sweet 16 team, and will be a force in the always tough Big East.
