sports books may discount the Bills in the first three games of the schedule due to RB Marshawn Lynch's suspension. However, that could end up giving Bills betting more value. The team still has Fred Jackson and Dominic Rhodes in the backfield and will rely on those legs to simply set up the pass.
With a healthy roster, the Bills are a great value bet in the first two months of the season. But following their Week 9 bye, bettors should start easing off Buffalo. The schedule gets a tad trickier and injuries could rear their ugly head once again.
Bills Strength:
The pickup of Terrell Owens instantly brought attention to the Bills offense. Last season in Dallas, Owens’ numbers dropped but it wasn't all his fault. Romo's injury all but erased the passing attack for a few games and Jason Witten became the go-to guy in Big D.
Owens is teaming up with speedy Lee Evans, giving Buffalo a great receiving combo. Evans is coming off one of his best years in 2008, catching 63 balls for over 1,000 yards. And he did that with two defenders on him. Now with T.O. drawing double coverage, Evans is free to run around and will put up more than the three touchdowns he mustered last season.
Quarterback Trent Edwards must be giddy as a schoolgirl, getting to stare down two of the game’s top wideouts. If he can stay healthy and off his back (38 sacks allowed last year), this could be a breakout season for Edwards.
Bills Weakness:
If everything goes as planned and players stay healthy, the Bills could be a big surprise. The defense showed its teeth last year and finished in the middle of the pack. Heading into this season, there's a lot of weight on aging veterans DE Aaron Schobel and DT Marcus Stroud.
The Bills haven't been able to generate a solid pass rush and picked up just 24 sacks last season. Hoping to spark that is rookie Aaron Maybin, who was a sackmaster at Penn State. He is undersized for the position and will have a tough time transitioning in his first year.
The secondary resembled a bunch of lawn chairs last season. The Bills’ defensive backs combined for only 10 interceptions and broke up just under 43 percent of opponents' pass attempts last season. Injuries to CB Terrence McGee and other members of the secondary, as well as an anemic pass rush, compounded into over 204 passing yards against per game.

With emotions running high on both sides of the ball, one team (Florida) will benefit greatly. The other will suffer an embarrassing loss on New Year’s Day. Cincinnati is playing without former head coach Brian Kelly, who led the Bearcats to significant success in recent years
Again we have a match up of teams that played very similar games last week. However, the difference is that one of these teams won a close fought boring game, and the other lost. The Giants win on Monday night eliminates Atlanta from the playoffs this year while Buffalo was eliminated when they signed Terrell Owens in the offseason.
Buffalo played pretty well last Thursday against the Jets but didn’t have enough talent to win that game while the Chiefs didn’t bother to show up against Denver . This game is a coin flip, but that is why God created teasers, so you have a way to bet on a difficult game
The Bills offense exploded in the 4th quarter last week to beat Miami and showed that they are going to play hard the rest of the year. The Jets won an ugly 17-6 game last week against Carolina in which we said take the under. This is going to be a better game then people think
Virginia coach Al Groh has beaten the Cavaliers’ arch rival Hokies just one time in his nine years at UVA. He and the Cavaliers look to make that number two and possibly avoid his firing this Saturday in Charlottesville. The Hokies are in a down year at 8-3 and will not contend for the ACC Championship,
Not quite the same allure as the Red River Rivalry between Texas and Oklahoma, but this week’s Bedlam Rivalry game is Oklahoma State’s Super Bowl. The Cowboys have had a tremendous season so far and Oklahoma is sitting at 6-5, ensured of its worst season since 1999
Boise State doesn’t play too many home games where they are only 14 point favorites, but that is exactly what they are this week when Nevada comes to play on the blue turf. Boise State needs a win this week, and badly. Though the Broncos are 11-0, their only hope for a BCS appearance
Despite an 11-0 record up to this point, Alabama still realistically needs to win its next two games to get into the National Championship. With Florida a perfect 11-0 as well, the Crimson Tide will need to beat Auburn this week and Florida in the SEC Championship
At first glance you might think that it was quite a shocker that Oakland beat Cincinnati last week, but at we said the Bengals were coming off their biggest win in years and might be flat. We also felt that Jamarcus Russell was hindering the Raider offense and the switch to anybody but he was the correct move
We had another great week last week going 11-2 with our picks plus we hit our ten point teaser. We will try to keep up the good work this week, and will start with our weekly teaser bet. Jacksonville covered last week at the Jets and are now at 5-4
The Titans have been playing better after their bye week winning 2 straight against good teams after their ridiculous 0-6 start. They are a better team than that. Buffalo is coming off a bye after getting killed by Houston 2 weeks ago. We truly feel that the Titans have righted the ship
We love Houston and last week we said Houston-3 was too close to call and they won by 3.We missed on the total by a half point. The Bills have been playing well as of late, beating the Jets and Panthers on the road 2 weeks in a row. The line of Houston-3 is right on the money again
We knew last week that there was no reason to take Cleveland +5.5 so we did. We said it was a little risky at 5.5 and wait for line to get to 7, and then jump all over Cleveland. The line got to 6.5 then we bet the Browns both before the game and at halftime.
Both of these teams have problems. Miami really can’t play offense at the N.F.L. level. They look like a college or high school team at times, with their “Wildcat” offense and their quarterback who throws the ball like a shot put. Another quarterback, who has a funky delivery is Phillip Rivers
The next 2 games that we are picking, we are going a little bit out on a limb. There are 2 home dogs that both played very well last week as huge underdogs. Both teams had opportunities to win outright but didn’t.
Despite a 7-9 record last year (7-9 AGAINST THE SPREAD), the Buffalo Bills actually have reason to be optimistic heading into the 2009 season
