Panthers
History
Founded in 1995. Came into the league with Jacksonville in 1995 as an expansion team, and as did Jacksonville, went to the Conference Championship in their 2nd year. Another big turnaround was in 2003 when 2 years after a 1-15 season went to the Superbowl and nearly beat the favored Patriots. Superbowl Appearances (1), Superbowl Wins (0).
2009 Season Preview
The Panthers played over their heads all season last year and it showed in the playoffs, when Arizona came to town and crushed them. They run the ball well and play hard every week. This team has a history however of doing the unexpected and few people feel they will do well this year. They play in a tough division and Jake Delhomme may be finished, maybe not. They drafted for Defense this year, and you know Coach Fox likes his Defense. DE Everette Brown from Florida St. will help. They big question is whether they will re-sign DE Julius Peppers. If they do, the Panthers will be fine.

Carolina is 1-4 on the season but much better off than last year’s 2-14 mark due to the play of rookie quarterback Cam Newton, who is the only player in NFL history
New Orleans has recovered nicely after dropping a 42-34 season-opening contest to the Green Bay Packers as four-point road underdogs, winning three consecutive games entering this Week 5 matchup.
Carolina picked up its first win of the season last week with a 16-10 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars as 3.5-point home favorites. Ironically enough, the Panthers were out-gained in a contest for the first time during the 2011 season in the win.
This game will receive plenty of media attention, as first-year quarterbacks Blaine Gabbert and Cam Newton face off in Week 3 of the 2011 NFL season. Both players were taken in the first round in this year’s draft, with Newton going with the first overall pick.
Green Bay makes its first road trip of the 2011 season when it visits the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, which will also serve as the first game at the venue since 2005. The two teams have played 10 previous times in the past 15 seasons.
Carolina begins life with No. 1 draft pick Cam Newton under center after his Heisman Trophy and national championship season at Auburn. It’s safe to say that he’s earned the respect of many team mates in earning the starting
Florida Atlantic travels to The Swamp in Gainesville and will begin the final season under head coach Howard Schnellenberger, who began the program 13 years ago, taking it from obscurity into the major college football ranks
LSU is a dominating 20-4 all-time against current members of the Pac-12 Conference, which includes a 3-0 mark under Miles. Playing inside of a dome will likely factor little in the Tigers ability to come out with a victory, entering with a 22-7 all-time mark when indoors. LSU has won
Pittsburgh enters off back-to-back home wins as three-point favorites against the Atlanta Falcons (34-16) and Philadelphia Eagles (24-14) and will now end their preseason against a rookie quarterback
Carolina is now 1-1 ATS on the season after dropping a 20-10 road contest to the Miami Dolphins as six-point underdogs. The Panthers started the exhibition season with a 20-10 win over
Bettors are enjoying a unique opportunity to start playing around with the NFL Week 1 lines this year, even with many roster spots in doubt due to free agency starting this week. Professional bettors will continue moving these numbers around until the season kicks off with a premiere matchup
Carolina failed to score an offensive touchdown during four preseason games a year ago, but managed to find the end zone twice in a 20-10 home in over the New York Giants in head coach Ron Rivera’s debut. Jimmy Clausen got the
The ongoing negotiations between the NFL owners and the Players Association to arrive at a new CBA (collective bargaining agreement) continue to point towards a resolution that could potentially end a four-month owner imposed lockout of the players and reopen the league for business as early as the end of this week
The 2011 Pro Bowl returns to Hawaii after being held in Miami, Florida last year. The annual contest of the AFC's and NFC's best will take place Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011, at 7 p.m. ET. This is only the second time in history that the Pro Bowl will be held the week
You saw what happened to the Eagles last Tuesday. The same fate may be waiting for the Falcons here. This is the NFL and the difference between
Our record stands at 70-56-5 for the year, and we are going to finish strong and make a lot of money in the playoffs. We are going to start this week with our weekly
Oh how the mighty have fallen, both of these teams were in the Super Bowl in recent history and now both are in need of a minor overhaul. Arizona is in better shape than Carolina
Atlanta keeps right on winning and covering every week. It is very tough to bet against them at this point, and they may win the best record in the NFC. We still feel that they are not that great
There is no line on this game because of the injury to Joshua Cribbs and half of Carolina’s team being hurt. You have to give the Browns credit, they do play hard every week
We hit on our 3 team tease last week .This week we are going with a 4 team, 13 point tease. Baltimore showed a lot of heart last week by coming back in that game at Atlanta
Tampa Bay has proved that they are no longer a laughing stock while Carolina still is. However, it is hard to justify the Buccaneers being a touchdown favorite
New Orleans woke up last week against Pittsburgh while Carolina has been asleep all year. This is a very strange line. Carolina for some reason usually plays hard
The Giant defense which is my fantasy defense is off this week, so we picked up the Ram defense because we truly believe that they will dominate Carolina
It’s about time that San Francisco finally got a win; they are too good not to. The Panthers are not that good however. The 49ers are going to win this game
Chicago looked pretty bad last week but it was the Giants that made them look bad. Carolina is actually playing pretty good for a team
Another great week. We went 7-3 and hit on our big teaser bet. That makes it year to date, 27-14-1 and 3-1 on Teaser betting. We will start the week
We told you to take Atlanta last week, so why did everybody call it a shock. Carolina has all sorts of problems, it looks like John Fox will be fired after the season
The Bengals won a very very important game last week versus Baltimore. Carolina has all sorts of problems and will likely start Jimmy Clausen
After a surprising Week 3 performance in which Wisconsin barely squeaked out a 20-19 win over Arizona State and needed a blocked extra point to do it, the Badgers get
The quarterback for Carolina was banged up last week. How would you like to be Jimmy Clausen last week
Another thing you will remember from last year is we did well on our teasers. We love the Giants here, but 7 points is a lot. You could buy a half point
With emotions running high on both sides of the ball, one team (Florida) will benefit greatly. The other will suffer an embarrassing loss on New Year’s Day. Cincinnati is playing without former head coach Brian Kelly, who led the Bearcats to significant success in recent years
As a Giant fan, my blood pressure finally went down after week 10 on Monday night. The Giants played like the team that won the Super bowl in that game. Eli had his brother’s look in his eye, not the “Opie†look. Brandon Jacobs and Amand Bradshaw refused to go down and the defense stepped up
The Patriots showed last week that they really don’t care very much about this season. Did you see some of the really stupid passes that Tom Brady threw last week, maybe marriage doesn’t agree with him? It certainly doesn’t seem to be working for Tiger Woods. Sometimes really great athletes
Both of these teams are on the down side. Carolina lost at home last week to Miami, and the Jets got pelted by New England. One of these teams will get a win this week but we are not sure of which one that will be. What we are certain about is that both of this offenses have struggled
Virginia coach Al Groh has beaten the Cavaliers’ arch rival Hokies just one time in his nine years at UVA. He and the Cavaliers look to make that number two and possibly avoid his firing this Saturday in Charlottesville. The Hokies are in a down year at 8-3 and will not contend for the ACC Championship,
Not quite the same allure as the Red River Rivalry between Texas and Oklahoma, but this week’s Bedlam Rivalry game is Oklahoma State’s Super Bowl. The Cowboys have had a tremendous season so far and Oklahoma is sitting at 6-5, ensured of its worst season since 1999
Boise State doesn’t play too many home games where they are only 14 point favorites, but that is exactly what they are this week when Nevada comes to play on the blue turf. Boise State needs a win this week, and badly. Though the Broncos are 11-0, their only hope for a BCS appearance
Despite an 11-0 record up to this point, Alabama still realistically needs to win its next two games to get into the National Championship. With Florida a perfect 11-0 as well, the Crimson Tide will need to beat Auburn this week and Florida in the SEC Championship
At first glance you might think that it was quite a shocker that Oakland beat Cincinnati last week, but at we said the Bengals were coming off their biggest win in years and might be flat. We also felt that Jamarcus Russell was hindering the Raider offense and the switch to anybody but he was the correct move
Miami won but didn’t cover last week versus Tampa Bay while Carolina won as a 2 point dog at home against Atlanta. Our football sense said take Atlanta, but we knew better as our gambling sense said take the home dog
We made money on Carolina +12.5 at New Orleans last week, but were disappointed that Carolina didn’t win the game outright. Late mistakes in the second half cost them the game. Atlanta however rolled over Washington like we said they would.
The Saints showed that they are human, by not covering vs. Atlanta last week. Carolina shocked Arizona in Arizona. This is a division game and the Panthers will bring their "A" game this week. The Saints have been playing at a very high level every week
The Cardinals really proved that they are for real by going into Giants stadium and beating the Giants last week. The Panthers threw in a stinker last week in losing to Buffalo. The early money here has knocked the line up from 7.5 up to 10, quite an increase
Both of these teams have problems. Miami really can’t play offense at the N.F.L. level. They look like a college or high school team at times, with their “Wildcat†offense and their quarterback who throws the ball like a shot put. Another quarterback, who has a funky delivery is Phillip Rivers
The next 2 games that we are picking, we are going a little bit out on a limb. There are 2 home dogs that both played very well last week as huge underdogs. Both teams had opportunities to win outright but didn’t.
The Panthers better get used to playing the Giants at the Meadowlands quickly – their preseason game is a precursor to their Week 16 matchup at New York later this season.
Stop thinking about rain by itself as a bad weather indicator. Look at the mix of wind, turf quality, and precipitation. It's the mix that matters, not one third of the mix.
Beating NFL 1st Quarter Lines
Bettors no longer have to look at mere sides and/or game totals to strike it rich as mostly all the online sports books (and many Las Vegas) outlets provide first and second half wagering lines along with quarter by quarter prices too on football betting.
