Cleveland Browns Betting
(4-12, 6-9-1 Against the Spread): +5000 to win Super Bowl XLIV
Bet on the Cleveland Browns this season at our number 1 rated sportsbook BookMaker.com
Everyone had Cleveland as the sleeper last season. And then it blew up in their face with a 6-9-1 against the spread record. The Browns play five of their eight games before the bye on the road, where they were 4-4 against the number in 2008. Nothing about this year's squad says things will get better so the nfl betting public should really pick their spots when betting the Browns.
Browns Strength:
The Browns hired former Jets coach Eric Mangini to resurrect the franchise, and with him comes defensive coordinator Rob Ryan. Ryan will take a ho-hum stop unit and try to spice it up with his active and aggressive defensive fronts. Cleveland won't keep pace with divisional rivals Pittsburgh or Baltimore but has a lot of talent on defense.
Linebacker D'Qwell Jackson led the league in tackles last year and will be unleashed in Ryan's schemes. Mangini brought over LB Eric Barton from New York, who was among the leaders in tackles with 119 total. Nosetackle Shawn Rodgers is still as big as ever and is a handful in the middle. He had five sacks last year.
Browns Weakness:
Cleveland fans will finally get a look at Brady Quinn after watching the much-ballyhooed QB throw just 97 passes in his two years in the NFL. The Notre Dame product is the favorite to earn the starting job over Derek Anderson. Quinn is known for his smarts and his accuracy – but everything else is a mystery. Last year a hand injury kept bettors from getting any more info on the young pivot.
No matter who is under center for Cleveland, they won't like what they see downfield. The Browns parted ways with TE Kellen Winslow, and WR Braylon Edwards was more successful in voicing his trade demands than catching balls. Edwards totaled 877 yards on 55 catches last season but dropped balls at crucial times for Cleveland. He posted 14 drops to just three touchdowns.
On the ground, Jamal Lewis is still chugging away. The 10-year veteran suffered a serious decline in production last season and many believe his days in the NFL are numbered. Lewis still rushed for over 1,000 yards but scored just four times. The Browns are putting all their chips in Lewis this season, shaking up the offensive line in order to give the 30-year-old some space. But without a passing game, defense will continue to plug the middle and take advantage of a past-his-prime rusher.

With emotions running high on both sides of the ball, one team (Florida) will benefit greatly. The other will suffer an embarrassing loss on New Year’s Day. Cincinnati is playing without former head coach Brian Kelly, who led the Bearcats to significant success in recent years
The Browns have started to play surprisingly better the last few weeks. It is hard to believe that they like Eric Mangini enough to try to save his job. There is however a lot of talent on this team, that hasn’t performed up to their potential
Another great week betting, if you’ve been taking our advice all year, you have money in the bank by now. We hit on our weekly teaser last week, and we are going to start off with another one this week. What the hell is wrong with Pittsburgh? The problem is that they are not that good, and never were. Even last year when they went all the way, they never totally dominated people
We knew the Bengals were going to have an off week but losing that game against the raiders is unacceptable. That is not what Champions do. Luckily for them Pittsburgh and Baltimore also lost. Everybody is entitled to make mistakes but, one must learn from their mistakes
Not quite the same allure as the Red River Rivalry between Texas and Oklahoma, but this week’s Bedlam Rivalry game is Oklahoma State’s Super Bowl. The Cowboys have had a tremendous season so far and Oklahoma is sitting at 6-5, ensured of its worst season since 1999
Virginia coach Al Groh has beaten the Cavaliers’ arch rival Hokies just one time in his nine years at UVA. He and the Cavaliers look to make that number two and possibly avoid his firing this Saturday in Charlottesville. The Hokies are in a down year at 8-3 and will not contend for the ACC Championship,
Despite an 11-0 record up to this point, Alabama still realistically needs to win its next two games to get into the National Championship. With Florida a perfect 11-0 as well, the Crimson Tide will need to beat Auburn this week and Florida in the SEC Championship
Boise State doesn’t play too many home games where they are only 14 point favorites, but that is exactly what they are this week when Nevada comes to play on the blue turf. Boise State needs a win this week, and badly. Though the Broncos are 11-0, their only hope for a BCS appearance
At first glance you might think that it was quite a shocker that Oakland beat Cincinnati last week, but at we said the Bengals were coming off their biggest win in years and might be flat. We also felt that Jamarcus Russell was hindering the Raider offense and the switch to anybody but he was the correct move
O.k. I guess it's time to start telling jokes about how bad these 2 teams are, but we are not going to do it. Let’s look at this game objectively. One of these teams consistently plays embarrassingly bad football, while the other seems to play hard every week
The Ravens are very angry about the way their season been going. They come into this game at 4-4, but they are a much better team then that. The Browns on the other hand really don’t care about how their season is going. They come into this game at 1-7
This is the toughest time of the year to make money as a contrarian sports bettor. Early in the year there are many juicy upsets, later in the year it starts to make sense again, during the bowl season and late in the NFL season. At this time of the year, the good teams seem to win by large margins over the bad teams that have given up. That is not our betting style.
Green Bay was very business like in beating the Lions last week 26-0.The Browns have been playing slightly better as of late. The Packers do not care about the point spread here, just winning the game.
We are going to start off the week with our weekly Teaser. The point of a teaser bet is that you feel very comfortable that your teams will cover, and if they don’t, something memorable or shocking must happen. With this weeks teaser we can guarantee one thing, either you will win, or something crazy must happen for you to lose.
We knew last week that there was no reason to take Cleveland +5.5 so we did. We said it was a little risky at 5.5 and wait for line to get to 7, and then jump all over Cleveland. The line got to 6.5 then we bet the Browns both before the game and at halftime.
We made money for the second week in a row with the Bengals. These are 2 teams heading in opposite directions. The Bengals come into this game at 2-1 after 2 huge wins at Green Bay, and vs. Pittsburgh.
Both of these teams have problems. Miami really can’t play offense at the N.F.L. level. They look like a college or high school team at times, with their “Wildcat” offense and their quarterback who throws the ball like a shot put. Another quarterback, who has a funky delivery is Phillip Rivers
Our 13 point teaser bet of the Week begins in Baltimore. We hit on most of our big teasers last week, but the one they we were worried about, and let us down was Cleveland.
This game scares me, not only as a Giant fan but as a bettor. This is a trap game for the Giants. After 2 huge wins against division rivals, Dallas and Washington, they now play 3 games in a row versus bad teams
The next 2 games that we are picking, we are going a little bit out on a limb. There are 2 home dogs that both played very well last week as huge underdogs. Both teams had opportunities to win outright but didn’t.
This is the most dangerous part of our 4 team teaser. Both of these teams are pretty bad. The Broncos got extremely lucky with that late touchdown to Brandon Stokley, to defeat the Bengals last week.
Brett Favre, Brett Favre, Brett Favre. What can we say about Brett Favre? Actually we are not going to say much about Brett Favre except that he should have stayed retired. He was washed up 4 years ago in Green Bay, but keeps on coming back.
Things looked promising in the first half of last year for the Green Bay Packers. Their quarterback of the future, Aaron Rodgers, was progressing nicely, and a 5-5 record, while not dominant, was not a cause of concern.
Monday Night Football Betting
Probably the most well known handicapping angle is the “Monday Night Home Underdog.”
Stop thinking about rain by itself as a bad weather indicator. Look at the mix of wind, turf quality, and precipitation. It's the mix that matters, not one third of the mix.
Beating NFL 1st Quarter Lines
Bettors no longer have to look at mere sides and/or game totals to strike it rich as mostly all the online sports books (and many Las Vegas) outlets provide first and second half wagering lines along with quarter by quarter prices too on football betting.
