Jacksonville Jaguars Betting
(5-11, 4-12 Against the Spread): +4000 to win Super Bowl XLIV
Bet on the Jacksonville Jaguars this season at our number 1 rated sportsbook BookMaker.com
Playing in the AFC South, Jacksonville is faced with a guaranteed six tough games per season. The Jaguars lost against the spread in eight of their 10 games following the bye thanks to injuries to the offensive line and problems on defense. The team's health issues make them the toughest bet in the AFC.
Jaguars Strength:
The Jaguars are putting all their eggs into the basket of RB Maurice Jones-Drew this season. Last year, the tiny back rushed for over 100 yards just twice and was limited to infrequent touches. He still totaled 824 yards and 14 touchdowns. With Fred Taylor gone to New England, Jones-Drew will have no trouble getting back to the 1,000-yard plateau and will post double digits in scores again. He should also continue to grow as a passing option. He caught 62 balls for more than 560 yards and two touchdowns in 2008.
Jacksonville's offensive line was cursed with injuries last season, losing three starters. Now, they welcome back C Brad Meister, G Vince Manuwai and Maurice Williams and add monster T Tra Thomas. Just in case the O-line can't stay healthy, the Jaguars spent their first two draft picks on elite blockers out of college. Virginia OT Eugene Monroe and Arizona OT Eben Britton could get lots of playing time if the starters crumble again.
Jaguars Weakness:
Like their division rivals the Colts, Jacksonville boasts two talented ends in Derrick Harvey and Quentin Groves but have no bulk in the middle. Teams marched all over the Jags’ defensive line and forced the linebackers to help out. That compensation, along with a lazy pass rush, left the Jacksonville secondary out to dry.
The team allowed more than 224 yards passing last season and picked off only 13 passes. Rashean Mathis is a ball hawk, collecting four INTs in 2008, but gives up big plays when trying too hard to make the pick. He's also coming off a late-season injury and has very little help on the other side of the field.
Quarterback David Garrard couldn't replicate his 2007 numbers thanks to injuries to the offensive line and the lack of talent on the wings. Garrard posted a QB rating of 81.7 and passed for just over 3,200 yards. He has 15 touchdown passes but coughed the ball up 13 times.
Jacksonville added veteran WR Torry Holt, who is sprinting around on one good knee. Other than that, Garrard is looking to Mike Walker and Dennis Northcutt. Tight end Marcedes Lewis has a ton of upside but is too inconsistent and can make costly mistakes inside the 20-yard line.

With emotions running high on both sides of the ball, one team (Florida) will benefit greatly. The other will suffer an embarrassing loss on New Year’s Day. Cincinnati is playing without former head coach Brian Kelly, who led the Bearcats to significant success in recent years
This is one of this week best bets. Jacksonville proved last week to the nation that they are for real. They could have won that game versus the Colts, but a late interception cost them the game
This is the time of year when you must be very careful, because some teams are resting players, others are hungry, and some are just playing for their jobs. Each game must be analyzed separately, because each team takes a different view on when to rest their players. The coach of the Colts says that all healthy players will play in this game, and since 16-0 is still on the line that is probably true
We told you to take Miami over New England last week and we hope you did. Jacksonville won a big game against Houston and is in the play-off picture. Actually both of these teams want to make the play-offs and this game may decide which team goes or stays home after the season
Jacksonville is slowly but surely getting back in the play off picture. They come into this game at 6-4 and have as good a chance as anyone to get a wild card birth. The 49ers have been playing better as of late and covered by a half point
Not quite the same allure as the Red River Rivalry between Texas and Oklahoma, but this week’s Bedlam Rivalry game is Oklahoma State’s Super Bowl. The Cowboys have had a tremendous season so far and Oklahoma is sitting at 6-5, ensured of its worst season since 1999
Virginia coach Al Groh has beaten the Cavaliers’ arch rival Hokies just one time in his nine years at UVA. He and the Cavaliers look to make that number two and possibly avoid his firing this Saturday in Charlottesville. The Hokies are in a down year at 8-3 and will not contend for the ACC Championship,
Despite an 11-0 record up to this point, Alabama still realistically needs to win its next two games to get into the National Championship. With Florida a perfect 11-0 as well, the Crimson Tide will need to beat Auburn this week and Florida in the SEC Championship
Boise State doesn’t play too many home games where they are only 14 point favorites, but that is exactly what they are this week when Nevada comes to play on the blue turf. Boise State needs a win this week, and badly. Though the Broncos are 11-0, their only hope for a BCS appearance
At first glance you might think that it was quite a shocker that Oakland beat Cincinnati last week, but at we said the Bengals were coming off their biggest win in years and might be flat. We also felt that Jamarcus Russell was hindering the Raider offense and the switch to anybody but he was the correct move
We had another great week last week going 11-2 with our picks plus we hit our ten point teaser. We will try to keep up the good work this week, and will start with our weekly teaser bet. Jacksonville covered last week at the Jets and are now at 5-4
Jacksonville has quietly posted a 4-4 record this year, and could be the best team that nobody is noticing. They have plenty of talent on this team but have consistently underachieved for a few years now. The Jets come off badly needed bye week in which they could try to fix what is wrong
We knew that Tennessee might wake up last week vs. Jacksonville, but the Jaguars showed no heart in that game. At least we barley hit our under bet. This is the last week we are staying on the Jaguars bandwagon
Originally this game was going to be part of our 4 team teaser. We changed our minds because we realized that one of these weeks Tennessee might wake up. The Titans have had 2 weeks to start from scratch and try to correct all that is wrong with this team
Do I really have to talk about this game? Both of these teams put up embarrassing performances last week and cost us money. Jacksonville went up to Seattle and lost to a so-so Seahawk team 41-0.The Rams got crushed at home 38-10 by Minnesota.
Matt Hassellbeck might play this week for Seattle, which will greatly help the offense. Just as we said about Houston, the Jaguars finally started to play like the team that we thought they’d be last week
We are going to include our other sleeper team in our 3 team teaser. Last week we bet Jacksonville + 3.5, versus the Texans and they won outright.
Both of these teams have problems. Miami really can’t play offense at the N.F.L. level. They look like a college or high school team at times, with their “Wildcat” offense and their quarterback who throws the ball like a shot put. Another quarterback, who has a funky delivery is Phillip Rivers
This week 2 of our sleeper picks are playing each other. We had Houston +7 to upset Tennessee last week and they did. They finally played up to their potential as one of the best teams in the N.F.L.
This game scares me, not only as a Giant fan but as a bettor. This is a trap game for the Giants. After 2 huge wins against division rivals, Dallas and Washington, they now play 3 games in a row versus bad teams
The next 2 games that we are picking, we are going a little bit out on a limb. There are 2 home dogs that both played very well last week as huge underdogs. Both teams had opportunities to win outright but didn’t.
Jacksonville played their hearts out at the Colts last week in Indianapolis, as we said they would, but although they covered, they came up a little short.
Usually Frankie is a contrarian, and he has very different views from the main stream losers, who say they are experts in this field. This time however, we do agree with many people who say this will be a down year for the Colts.
After 2007, few would have believed that Miami was poised to have a better 2008 season than their northern Florida counterparts, the Jacksonville Jaguars
Monday Night Football Betting
Probably the most well known handicapping angle is the “Monday Night Home Underdog.”
Stop thinking about rain by itself as a bad weather indicator. Look at the mix of wind, turf quality, and precipitation. It's the mix that matters, not one third of the mix.
Beating NFL 1st Quarter Lines
Bettors no longer have to look at mere sides and/or game totals to strike it rich as mostly all the online sports books (and many Las Vegas) outlets provide first and second half wagering lines along with quarter by quarter prices too on football betting.
