Baltimore came in off its bye week and captured a 29-14 win over the Houston Texans as seven-point favorites, pushing its record to 4-1 ATS on the season, while going ‘under’ the total for the first time.
Jacksonville is 1-4 on the season and bettors may be hesitant in wagering on the team, but the last seven meetings between these two have been decided by 10 points or less.
Cincinnati heads back on the road and will bring in the league’s No. 1 defense to face the worst offense in the NFL. The Bengals covered their first two games of the season that happened to be on the road, including a 27-17 season-opening win against Cleveland as 6.5-point underdogs.
This game will receive plenty of media attention, as first-year quarterbacks Blaine Gabbert and Cam Newton face off in Week 3 of the 2011 NFL season. Both players were taken in the first round in this year’s draft, with Newton going with the first overall pick.
Jacksonville made a surprising move by letting quarterback David Garrard go leading up to the season open also surprised many by picking up a 16-14 win over the Tennessee Titans as one-point home underdogs.
Tennessee finished the 2011 preseason with a 3-1 record after picking up a resounding 32-9 win over the New Orleans Saints. The Titans played the entire exhibition season without star running back
Florida Atlantic travels to The Swamp in Gainesville and will begin the final season under head coach Howard Schnellenberger, who began the program 13 years ago, taking it from obscurity into the major college football ranks
LSU is a dominating 20-4 all-time against current members of the Pac-12 Conference, which includes a 3-0 mark under Miles. Playing inside of a dome will likely factor little in the Tigers ability to come out with a victory, entering with a 22-7 all-time mark when indoors. LSU has won
St. Louis has proven victorious in all three preseason games and picked up a 14-10 win over the Kansas City Chiefs last week. The Rams are still far from perfect and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels continues to tinker
Jacksonville failed to cover as 3-point home favorites last week in a 15-13 win over the Atlanta Falcons, but head coach Jack Del Rio will take it due to the 47-12 beat down the team received in New England in Week 1
Bettors are enjoying a unique opportunity to start playing around with the NFL Week 1 lines this year, even with many roster spots in doubt due to free agency starting this week. Professional bettors will continue moving these numbers around until the season kicks off with a premiere matchup
Atlanta quickly moved out to a 17-0 first quarter lead, but was unable to hold off the Miami Dolphins in a 28-23 home loss to open the preseason. The Falcons starters played the first quarter and quarterback Matt Ryan finished 6 of 10 for
The New England Patriots are four-point home favorites in their pre-season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars and the total checks in at 35.5. The Patriots posted a 2-1-1 ATS mark during exhibition play in 2010
The ongoing negotiations between the NFL owners and the Players Association to arrive at a new CBA (collective bargaining agreement) continue to point towards a resolution that could potentially end a four-month owner imposed lockout of the players and reopen the league for business as early as the end of this week
The 2011 Pro Bowl returns to Hawaii after being held in Miami, Florida last year. The annual contest of the AFC's and NFC's best will take place Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011, at 7 p.m. ET. This is only the second time in history that the Pro Bowl will be held the week
Jacksonville played hard last week but just came up short at the Colts. They must have this one and hope that Indianapolis slips up in order to win their division. People are finally starting to realize something that we have known for years.
Believe it or not if Jacksonville wins this game they will clinch the AFC south, based on the fact that would have swept the season series versus Indianapolis. If the Colts lose this game
The 2 teams who I bet to win their division are playing each other this week. I never would have believed a few weeks ago that the Jaguars would be the team that is first place at the present
As we mentioned with their Jets and Texans, one of these teams got extremely lucky last week and one got extremely unlucky. That being said
Both of these teams have a shot at a division title and both have been hot and cold all year long. The Texan defense is better then the Jaguars' while the Texan offense is better
I am laughing so hard that the Cowgirls are 1-5 and are starting 98 year old John Kitna at quarterback. I guess America’s team will have to wait until next preseason
I will never bet Jacksonville again as long as Garrard is the quarterback. When he under threw that guy and it got intercepted, I jumped off the bandwagon. Ever since he signed that big contract
We bet Jacksonville at 22.5-1 odds to win their division before the season. Right now they are in a 4 team tie for first. One of the other teams in
We knew the Jaguars would keep it close last week against the Colts but we didn’t think they would win the game. Well actually we
Another great week. We went 7-3 and hit on our big teaser bet. That makes it year to date, 27-14-1 and 3-1 on Teaser betting. We will start the week
We really still believe in Jacksonville this year even if no one else does. The Colts have had a tough schedule early on, but are managing to win more
The Eagles got kind of lucky last week. They were losing that game last week against Detroit then Vick brought them back, then they hung on
After a surprising Week 3 performance in which Wisconsin barely squeaked out a 20-19 win over Arizona State and needed a blocked extra point to do it, the Badgers get
I think we saw last week that Jacksonville is going to play hard this year. The way they beat Denver with hard-hitting and defense and taking advantage of opportunities was the way that they played a few years ago
Last year Denver surprised everybody by going 6-0 to start the year. You have to give Daniels credit; he is doing everything his way, right or wrong. They gave away their best receiver
With emotions running high on both sides of the ball, one team (Florida) will benefit greatly. The other will suffer an embarrassing loss on New Year’s Day. Cincinnati is playing without former head coach Brian Kelly, who led the Bearcats to significant success in recent years
This is one of this week best bets. Jacksonville proved last week to the nation that they are for real. They could have won that game versus the Colts, but a late interception cost them the game
This is the time of year when you must be very careful, because some teams are resting players, others are hungry, and some are just playing for their jobs. Each game must be analyzed separately, because each team takes a different view on when to rest their players. The coach of the Colts says that all healthy players will play in this game, and since 16-0 is still on the line that is probably true
We told you to take Miami over New England last week and we hope you did. Jacksonville won a big game against Houston and is in the play-off picture. Actually both of these teams want to make the play-offs and this game may decide which team goes or stays home after the season
Jacksonville is slowly but surely getting back in the play off picture. They come into this game at 6-4 and have as good a chance as anyone to get a wild card birth. The 49ers have been playing better as of late and covered by a half point
Virginia coach Al Groh has beaten the Cavaliers’ arch rival Hokies just one time in his nine years at UVA. He and the Cavaliers look to make that number two and possibly avoid his firing this Saturday in Charlottesville. The Hokies are in a down year at 8-3 and will not contend for the ACC Championship,
Not quite the same allure as the Red River Rivalry between Texas and Oklahoma, but this week’s Bedlam Rivalry game is Oklahoma State’s Super Bowl. The Cowboys have had a tremendous season so far and Oklahoma is sitting at 6-5, ensured of its worst season since 1999
Boise State doesn’t play too many home games where they are only 14 point favorites, but that is exactly what they are this week when Nevada comes to play on the blue turf. Boise State needs a win this week, and badly. Though the Broncos are 11-0, their only hope for a BCS appearance
Despite an 11-0 record up to this point, Alabama still realistically needs to win its next two games to get into the National Championship. With Florida a perfect 11-0 as well, the Crimson Tide will need to beat Auburn this week and Florida in the SEC Championship
At first glance you might think that it was quite a shocker that Oakland beat Cincinnati last week, but at we said the Bengals were coming off their biggest win in years and might be flat. We also felt that Jamarcus Russell was hindering the Raider offense and the switch to anybody but he was the correct move
We had another great week last week going 11-2 with our picks plus we hit our ten point teaser. We will try to keep up the good work this week, and will start with our weekly teaser bet. Jacksonville covered last week at the Jets and are now at 5-4
Do I really have to talk about this game? Both of these teams put up embarrassing performances last week and cost us money. Jacksonville went up to Seattle and lost to a so-so Seahawk team 41-0.The Rams got crushed at home 38-10 by Minnesota.
Both of these teams have problems. Miami really can’t play offense at the N.F.L. level. They look like a college or high school team at times, with their “Wildcat†offense and their quarterback who throws the ball like a shot put. Another quarterback, who has a funky delivery is Phillip Rivers
The next 2 games that we are picking, we are going a little bit out on a limb. There are 2 home dogs that both played very well last week as huge underdogs. Both teams had opportunities to win outright but didn’t.
Jacksonville played their hearts out at the Colts last week in Indianapolis, as we said they would, but although they covered, they came up a little short.
Stop thinking about rain by itself as a bad weather indicator. Look at the mix of wind, turf quality, and precipitation. It's the mix that matters, not one third of the mix.
Beating NFL 1st Quarter Lines
Bettors no longer have to look at mere sides and/or game totals to strike it rich as mostly all the online sports books (and many Las Vegas) outlets provide first and second half wagering lines along with quarter by quarter prices too on football betting.
