Arrowhead Stadium is still a tough place to play despite the team's 3-5 Against the Spread record at home. Oddsmakers will be discounting this team early on, giving the offense the chance to cover as big dogs. The defense will struggle, which will make Kansas City worth a look on the over.
Chiefs Strength:
Matt Cassel parlayed Tom Brady's knee injury into a starting job and a hefty payday in Kansas City. Cassell proved his pro pedigree with New England in place of the injured Brady last season. He threw for just under 3,700 yards and 21 touchdowns. Cassell isn't going to air out a lot of balls but will get a lot of attempts with former Arizona offensive coordinator Todd Haley taking the reins.
Cassel has a legit No.1 receiver in Dwayne Bowe. He's not as fast as some other top wideouts and is more of a possession receiver, but he can leap and has solid hands. Last season, Bowe registered over 1,000 yards and seven scores while sharing looks with departed TE Tony Gonzalez. The Chiefs brought in veteran WR Bobby Engram this offseason in order to take the pressure off Bowe. Engram will run out of the slot and catch his fair share of balls.
The secondary could surprise opposing passing attacks this season. While the front seven goes 3-4, the defensive backfield will continue to grow with CB Brandon Flowers, Brandon Carr and Maurice Leggett. Safeties Bernard Pollard and Jarrad Page hold up their roles in the secondary.
Chiefs Weakness:
The Larry Johnson saga continues in Kansas City. The once-mighty running back is coming off another sub-1,000 yard season in which he battled injury for the third straight year. Johnson is still a strong rusher but doesn't have the quick cuts to break big plays. And with the Chiefs going heavy on the pass, it might just be a matter of weeks before Johnson is cut loose.
The defense is making the jump to the 3-4 this season and has the linebackers to get to the quarterback. But like any major change, this year will be about transition. Kansas City posted the fewest sacks in the NFL last season with 10 and will depend on some youngsters to step up. Glen Dorsey could find himself in limbo during this switch and the linebacker corps is experienced but very old with the additions of Zach Thomas and Mike Vrabel.

With emotions running high on both sides of the ball, one team (Florida) will benefit greatly. The other will suffer an embarrassing loss on New Year’s Day. Cincinnati is playing without former head coach Brian Kelly, who led the Bearcats to significant success in recent years
The Bengals still haven’t clinched the division yet and they are starting to feel the Ravens breathing down their necks. Make no mistake about it, either they win this game this week and clinch, or they were a fraud all along. They were not a fraud and
Buffalo played pretty well last Thursday against the Jets but didn’t have enough talent to win that game while the Chiefs didn’t bother to show up against Denver . This game is a coin flip, but that is why God created teasers, so you have a way to bet on a difficult game
Virginia coach Al Groh has beaten the Cavaliers’ arch rival Hokies just one time in his nine years at UVA. He and the Cavaliers look to make that number two and possibly avoid his firing this Saturday in Charlottesville. The Hokies are in a down year at 8-3 and will not contend for the ACC Championship,
Not quite the same allure as the Red River Rivalry between Texas and Oklahoma, but this week’s Bedlam Rivalry game is Oklahoma State’s Super Bowl. The Cowboys have had a tremendous season so far and Oklahoma is sitting at 6-5, ensured of its worst season since 1999
Boise State doesn’t play too many home games where they are only 14 point favorites, but that is exactly what they are this week when Nevada comes to play on the blue turf. Boise State needs a win this week, and badly. Though the Broncos are 11-0, their only hope for a BCS appearance
Despite an 11-0 record up to this point, Alabama still realistically needs to win its next two games to get into the National Championship. With Florida a perfect 11-0 as well, the Crimson Tide will need to beat Auburn this week and Florida in the SEC Championship
At first glance you might think that it was quite a shocker that Oakland beat Cincinnati last week, but at we said the Bengals were coming off their biggest win in years and might be flat. We also felt that Jamarcus Russell was hindering the Raider offense and the switch to anybody but he was the correct move
What the hell is going on in Oakland lately.Even for a team with a history of excentric players this is extreme. The whole Tom Cable saga, Jamarcus Russel,Al Davis and the rest of this dysfunctional family is the worst run team in the NFL.
We hit on our 3-team ten-point teaser last week when the Giants +1.5 and Texans +1 both won easily and the Jags +13 blew out the Titans. This week we are going to come back with a 4-team 13-point teaser.
Both of these teams have problems. Miami really can’t play offense at the N.F.L. level. They look like a college or high school team at times, with their “Wildcat” offense and their quarterback who throws the ball like a shot put. Another quarterback, who has a funky delivery is Phillip Rivers
The next 2 games that we are picking, we are going a little bit out on a limb. There are 2 home dogs that both played very well last week as huge underdogs. Both teams had opportunities to win outright but didn’t.
Before last season actually started, the Texans were being billed as a team that was poised to make its first playoff appearance ever.
