Bet on the Minnesota Vikings this season at our number 1 rated sportsbook BookMaker.com
With Favre under center, betting on the Vikings has value early in the year. The schedule opens with games against Cleveland, Detroit, San Francisco, Green Bay and St. Louis. The Vikes will be hefty favorites for all of those games but as long as everyone is healthy, NFL bettors need not sweat the chalk. Football Bettors should, however, keep a close eye on injuries and begin to tail off Minnesota as the season takes its toll.
Vikings Strength:
In just two seasons, Adrian Peterson has solidified himself as the best backfield threat in the NFL. Last season, “All Day” ducked and dodged his way to almost 1,800 yards and 10 touchdowns. What's most impressive about those numbers is that the Vikings had no passing game to set up the run, so defenses sat and waited for Peterson to touch the ball; and he still dominated the ground. Heading into this season, Peterson has added extra muscle to his 6-foot-1 frame and wants to improve his pass blocking so that he can be an option in the flat.
While Peterson gets most of the glory in Minnesota, the team's biggest strength lies in the trenches. The Vikings are the best team against the run and are developing a vicious pass rush, headed by DE Jared Allen and the Williams', Pat and Kevin – whose suspensions are still up in the air. Last year, the Vikes allowed almost 216 passing yards per game and ranked fourth in sacks with 45.
The secondary is an underrated unit that plucked just 12 interceptions from the skies last season. The Cover 2 system nullified the long pass but was picked apart by short dump-offs. Corners Antoine Winfield and Cedric Griffin will get some help in shallow coverage with the return of LB E.J. Henderson, who missed most of last year with a foot injury.
Vikings Weakness:
The Brett Favre ordeal could still take its toll on the Vikings, but not until later in the schedule. There's no doubt that Favre would be the best choice of the Vikings' three quarterback options. Despite the announcement in late July by coach Brad Childress that Favre would not be joining the team, Favre himself has not ruled out a return to active duty somewhere in the NFL later in the season.
With WR Bernard Berrian coming off a strong 2008 and the addition of versatile rookie wideout Percy Harvin, Minnesota finally has something resembling a passing attack. But if Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels remain the only options under center, then the Vikings will face questions all season long about the QB position.

Welcome back guys. We are going to have a great year this year. We are going to start with the traditional opening night game featuring last year’s champ the Saints.
The Saints started to play like they did earlier in the year last week, and the Viking defense helped us hit our under bet, as well as side–total parlay bet. The defensive ends got off the ball so fast it seemed like were in the backfield before Tony Romo was. The Saints will find a way to score some points here, the question is, can Brett Favre match Drew Brees stride for stride
With emotions running high on both sides of the ball, one team (Florida) will benefit greatly. The other will suffer an embarrassing loss on New Year’s Day. Cincinnati is playing without former head coach Brian Kelly, who led the Bearcats to significant success in recent years
We hate to say I told you so, but I told you that the Vikings were overrated all year, and I think after a second embarrassing loss on national TV, I proved my point. Favre is done, was done 4 years ago, and as far as fighting with the coach about coming out of the game, that’s B.S
The Bears let us down last week. They looked like they were going to win that game against the Eagles, but a late touchdown cost them the game, and probably their season. Jay Cutler looks like a defeated man. He came into town as the saviour
Virginia coach Al Groh has beaten the Cavaliers’ arch rival Hokies just one time in his nine years at UVA. He and the Cavaliers look to make that number two and possibly avoid his firing this Saturday in Charlottesville. The Hokies are in a down year at 8-3 and will not contend for the ACC Championship,
Not quite the same allure as the Red River Rivalry between Texas and Oklahoma, but this week’s Bedlam Rivalry game is Oklahoma State’s Super Bowl. The Cowboys have had a tremendous season so far and Oklahoma is sitting at 6-5, ensured of its worst season since 1999
Boise State doesn’t play too many home games where they are only 14 point favorites, but that is exactly what they are this week when Nevada comes to play on the blue turf. Boise State needs a win this week, and badly. Though the Broncos are 11-0, their only hope for a BCS appearance
Despite an 11-0 record up to this point, Alabama still realistically needs to win its next two games to get into the National Championship. With Florida a perfect 11-0 as well, the Crimson Tide will need to beat Auburn this week and Florida in the SEC Championship
At first glance you might think that it was quite a shocker that Oakland beat Cincinnati last week, but at we said the Bengals were coming off their biggest win in years and might be flat. We also felt that Jamarcus Russell was hindering the Raider offense and the switch to anybody but he was the correct move
We had the Ravens +2.5 last week vs. the Vikings, and although they did miss a late field goal to win the game, the Ravens still covered in losing by 2.There are certain teams in this league that we feel are overrated and others that we feel are underrated.
No other person has cost us more money over the years than Brett Favre (except possibly Peyton Manning). He did it to us again on Monday Night.
Both of these teams have problems. Miami really can’t play offense at the N.F.L. level. They look like a college or high school team at times, with their “Wildcat” offense and their quarterback who throws the ball like a shot put. Another quarterback, who has a funky delivery is Phillip Rivers
The next 2 games that we are picking, we are going a little bit out on a limb. There are 2 home dogs that both played very well last week as huge underdogs. Both teams had opportunities to win outright but didn’t.
The Vikings are overrated; the 49ers are underrated. We really don’t know why everybody loves the Vikings this year. I guess Brett Favre, Adrian Peterson, and a good defense is making the experts think they have a shot to go to the Super Bowl
