New England Patriots
History
Founded in 1960. Started in the AFL as the Boston Patriots. In the 70's had some good teams behind Steve Grogan, and this team at times has put some good teams on the field. The "Golden Years"for New England however, are the present, behind the tutelage of Bill Bellick and Quarterbacking of Tom Brady. Lately this team always finds a way to "retool” quickly and stay competitive. Superbowl Appearances (6), Superbowl Wins (3).
2009 Season Preview
The Patriots always find a way to win. Last year when Tom Brady got hurt, they put in Matt Cassell who played well and they won 11 games. They have a way to find unknown players and make them very productive. This is the reason that even in the draft, they traded down, and loaded up on draft picks, because they knew that they'd get players that they liked anyway. The Patriots really didn't make any major changes in the off-season. The one new acquisition that will really help them is Freddy Taylor at Rb. He still has a lot left and will contribute to their” Running Back by Committee" philosophy. The big question is whether or not Tom Brady's knee is o.k. The Pats must feel it is, because they traded away Matt Cassell for basically nothing. If Brady is o.k., then this is still the same team that almost went undefeated 2 years ago, and will vie for a title this year.

Of all the games this weekend, this is the one that is the toughest to figure out. The Ravens have been playing exceptional football as of late, and could go all the way. That being said, the Patriots have been playing terrible football the last few weeks but are still the Patriots
With emotions running high on both sides of the ball, one team (Florida) will benefit greatly. The other will suffer an embarrassing loss on New Year’s Day. Cincinnati is playing without former head coach Brian Kelly, who led the Bearcats to significant success in recent years
This is one of this week best bets. Jacksonville proved last week to the nation that they are for real. They could have won that game versus the Colts, but a late interception cost them the game
The Patriots showed last week that they really don’t care very much about this season. Did you see some of the really stupid passes that Tom Brady threw last week, maybe marriage doesn’t agree with him? It certainly doesn’t seem to be working for Tiger Woods. Sometimes really great athletes
Here we go, the type of game we like to bet on. 2 very good teams playing on National T.V and the Patriots are still pissed off about what happened to them at the Colts 2 weeks ago. New Orleans keeps on winning, but except for last week’s game against the Bucs
Virginia coach Al Groh has beaten the Cavaliers’ arch rival Hokies just one time in his nine years at UVA. He and the Cavaliers look to make that number two and possibly avoid his firing this Saturday in Charlottesville. The Hokies are in a down year at 8-3 and will not contend for the ACC Championship,
Not quite the same allure as the Red River Rivalry between Texas and Oklahoma, but this week’s Bedlam Rivalry game is Oklahoma State’s Super Bowl. The Cowboys have had a tremendous season so far and Oklahoma is sitting at 6-5, ensured of its worst season since 1999
Boise State doesn’t play too many home games where they are only 14 point favorites, but that is exactly what they are this week when Nevada comes to play on the blue turf. Boise State needs a win this week, and badly. Though the Broncos are 11-0, their only hope for a BCS appearance
Despite an 11-0 record up to this point, Alabama still realistically needs to win its next two games to get into the National Championship. With Florida a perfect 11-0 as well, the Crimson Tide will need to beat Auburn this week and Florida in the SEC Championship
At first glance you might think that it was quite a shocker that Oakland beat Cincinnati last week, but at we said the Bengals were coming off their biggest win in years and might be flat. We also felt that Jamarcus Russell was hindering the Raider offense and the switch to anybody but he was the correct move
OK, everybody has a opinion on whether or not Bill Bellichek did the correct move by going for it on 4th down deep in his own territory, late in the game, at the Colts last week. In retrospect it looked like a crazy decision. We were watching the game with a big Patriots fan
For the last few years these 2 teams have been locking horns with the winner of this game having a real good shot to go all the way. On occasion one of these teams comes in undefeated. This year it's no different, it’s Indianapolis' turn to be the undefeated team.
Ted Ginn kickoff returns for touchdowns helped the Dolphins beat the Jets last week. New England was resting up last week after going to London to play an exhibition game vs. Tampa Bay. The Patriots have righted the ship
We are going to use the same philosophy with part 2 of our teaser bet, that we used in part one. We are going to take the big favorite and knock them all the way down to almost a pick.
The Titans have really let us down recently. This team has a lot of talent, but after the losses start to pile up; any team starts to doubt themselves. What happens at times in football is that after a season is basically over a team gives up for a few weeks.
Denver showed last week that although they might not be ready to win a championship, they still are pretty good. We had them at +3 before the game
This could be the Game of the Week. We are finally starting to believe in Baltimore after years of saying they are overrated. The reason is they had no QUARTERBACK. They do now.
Both of these teams have problems. Miami really can’t play offense at the N.F.L. level. They look like a college or high school team at times, with their “Wildcat” offense and their quarterback who throws the ball like a shot put. Another quarterback, who has a funky delivery is Phillip Rivers
The next 2 games that we are picking, we are going a little bit out on a limb. There are 2 home dogs that both played very well last week as huge underdogs. Both teams had opportunities to win outright but didn’t.
This game scares me, not only as a Giant fan but as a bettor. This is a trap game for the Giants. After 2 huge wins against division rivals, Dallas and Washington, they now play 3 games in a row versus bad teams
These 2 teams played very surprising games last weeks for different reasons. The Jets shocked the Texans on the road 24-7, and the Patriots nearly lost to the Bills on Monday night.
Our first Monday night game is a good one. Brady is back and so are the Patriots. Brady obviously won’t put up record breaking numbers this year, but who cares, he’s still going to light it up, and New England will be fine.
After last year’s fluke injury in which quarterback Tom Brady missed the last 15 games of the season, New England bounces back with a healthy signal caller and a hunger to make the playoffs.
Monday Night Football Betting
Probably the most well known handicapping angle is the “Monday Night Home Underdog.”
Stop thinking about rain by itself as a bad weather indicator. Look at the mix of wind, turf quality, and precipitation. It's the mix that matters, not one third of the mix.
Beating NFL 1st Quarter Lines
Bettors no longer have to look at mere sides and/or game totals to strike it rich as mostly all the online sports books (and many Las Vegas) outlets provide first and second half wagering lines along with quarter by quarter prices too on football betting.
