Saints Betting Prediction

(8-8, 10-5-1 Against the Spread): +1900 to win Super Bowl XLIV

Bet on the New Orleans Saints this season at our number 1 rated sportsbook TotalBets.com

As long as Drew Brees is taking snaps the Saints will have a chance to cover, especially as the underdog. New Orleans is always a safe play at home and with one of the NFL toughest schedules, bettors will get the Saints at a discount price inside the Superdome. Betting the Saints on the road will be another story.

Saints Strength:

If the Saints had made the postseason, Drew Brees would be the NFL's Most Valuable Player. In his third year with the franchise, Brees blew everyone away with his work behind center. He passed for over 5,000 yards, 17 touchdowns and posted a QB rating of 96.2. The ex-Boilermaker gets rid of the ball in a hurry and has an uncanny sense in the pocket. He was only sacked 13 times last year. Football fans could make the case that Brees has surpassed Brady and Manning as the best QB in the NFL.

Like any great QB, his targets must have some amount of talent. New Orleans has a deep receiving corps, especially when factoring in RB Reggie Bush. When healthy, Bush is a playmaker that works best out of the flat. True WR Marques Colston, Devery Henderson and Lance Moore give Brees plenty of options. Moore broke out last year after others went down with injury. He grabbed 79 balls for 928 yards along with 10 touchdowns.

Saints Weakness:

A feeble defense was the reason the Saints finished at the bottom of the NFC South with an 8-8 mark. New Orleans allowed almost 25 points per game and was just as weak on the ground as it was defending the pass. New defensive coordinator Gregg Williams will try to keep the Saints aggressive and will mix looks to keep opponents guessing.

Charles Grant and Will Smith have been disappointing for New Orleans and were hampered by injuries last season. The addition of Paul Spicer should help put pressure on opposing quarterbacks and LB Jonathan Vilma remains the steady stopper on defense.

The secondary was burned too many times last season and is under construction heading into 2009. New Orleans allowed 223.5 passing yards per game and picked off just 15 passes. The Saints are relying on a group of newcomers to step up including CB Jabari Greer, who struggles in man coverage, and veteran FS Darren Sharper, who is far removed from his glory days.

LSU is a dominating 20-4 all-time against current members of the Pac-12 Conference, which includes a 3-0 mark under Miles. Playing inside of a dome will likely factor little in the Tigers ability to come out with a victory, entering with a 22-7 all-time mark when indoors. LSU has won

Saints vs Seahawks Betting

This game is actually a rematch played in mid season in New Orleans which was won by the Saints 34-19. As you can tell by the score Seattle was in that game. The big difference here

Buccaneers vs Saints Betting

The Buccaneers have really been one of the great surprises this year. New Orleans didn’t suffer a post-Super Bowl hangover, although it is unlikely that

Saints vs Falcons Betting

This is for the division title, although the Falcons still can win their last game and clinch. The Saints didn’t step up to the plate last week in Baltimore while

Saints vs Ravens Betting

This really will be the best game of the week, if you exclude the 2 big division rivalries. The Saints have been on quite a tear recently and Baltimore is still winning although not paying perfect ball. We have a feeling in a spot

Bengals vs Saints Betting

Oh the Bengals, what a waste of talent. They couldn’t even keep it close on Thanksgiving last week. We are going to keep including

Seahawks vs Saints Betting

Seattle is proving that they have a lot of talent on their team. New Orleans is slowly going thru the season playing good football but

Panthers vs Saints Betting

New Orleans woke up last week against Pittsburgh while Carolina has been asleep all year. This is a very strange line. Carolina for some reason usually plays hard

Steelers vs Saints Betting

Nice game to end October on Halloween. The Saints have not been playing like the Saints as of yet this year. The Steelers have exceeded expectations considering Big Ben was suspended

Browns vs Saints Betting

New Orleans didn’t mess around last week in Tampa; we thought the game was going to be a lot closer. The Browns played very well against Pittsburgh last week

Saints vs Buccaneers Betting

Tampa Bay has been playing very good football. New Orleans hasn’t been playing badly, it’s just that every team has been playing their hearts out against them. We are making our pick

Saints vs Cardinals Betting

New Orleans is finding out that it is harder to be the hunted than the hunter this year. Arizona is finding out that it is hard to win when you don’t

Rams vs Lions Betting

Another great week. We went 7-3 and hit on our big teaser bet. That makes it year to date, 27-14-1 and 3-1 on Teaser betting. We will start the week

Panthers vs Saints Betting

We told you to take Atlanta last week, so why did everybody call it a shock. Carolina has all sorts of problems, it looks like John Fox will be fired after the season

Falcons vs Saints Betting

Atlanta played very well in both games versus New Orleans last year as they match up well against them. The Saints got lucky last week

Wisconsin vs. Austin Peay Betting

After a surprising Week 3 performance in which Wisconsin barely squeaked out a 20-19 win over Arizona State and needed a blocked extra point to do it, the Badgers get

Saints versus 49ers Betting

New Orleans looked pretty sharp and motivated last week. San Francisco looks neither sharp nor motivated. This is the game of the week to bet on

Saints vs Vikings Pick

Welcome back guys. We are going to have a great year this year. We are going to start with the traditional opening night game featuring last year’s champ the Saints.

Saints vs Colts Pick

The best 2 teams made the Super Bowl. Two months ago this was the match up that everyone wanted, then people started to talk about San Diego, Dallas, Baltimore or whatever team played one good game. The same people that said that the Colts wouldn’t recover from resting Peyton Manning are the same ones that are saying the Colts can’t lose this week.

Super Bowl Betting Super Bowl Betting

For sports fans, Super Bowl Sunday is one of the best days of the year. For bettors, it can be not only entertaining, but profitable as well. This year’s Super Bowl predictably pitted the New Orleans Saints against the Indianapolis Colts. Through 14 weeks of the NFL season, these two teams combined for an unconscious 26-0 record, before both teams clinched home field advantage for the playoffs and rested their starters.

Vikings vs Saints Pick

The Saints started to play like they did earlier in the year last week, and the Viking defense helped us hit our under bet, as well as side–total parlay bet. The defensive ends got off the ball so fast it seemed like were in the backfield before Tony Romo was. The Saints will find a way to score some points here, the question is, can Brett Favre match Drew Brees stride for stride

Florida vs. Cincinnati Pick

With emotions running high on both sides of the ball, one team (Florida) will benefit greatly. The other will suffer an embarrassing loss on New Year’s Day. Cincinnati is playing without former head coach Brian Kelly, who led the Bearcats to significant success in recent years

Buccaneers vs Saints Pick

Boy did the Saints really change the playoff picture with their loss to Dallas last week. Not only did it give life to the Cowboys, it showed that any team still might win the NFC. As a matter of fact these are our most likely teams to go to the Super bowl now. The Eagles, Saints, Giants, Cardinals, Cowboys, Packers and the Vikings in that order to win it all. Not quite the way the seeds are right now

Cowboys vs Saints Pick

We knew the Cowboys didn’t have enough guns to beat the Chargers last week, but this week is a different story. New Orleans has been just winning by the “skin of their teeth” lately, and will continue to until they finally lose their fear of losing their first game. People are fickle. You know that everybody is going to be betting the Saints here

Saints vs Falcons Pick

If you have been following my column all year you know I always love a juicy dog and we have one here. We bet the Falcons +10 on Monday Night Football against the Saints a few weeks ago when nobody else did, and we won. We are taking Atlanta again here

Virginia Tech vs Virginia Pick

Virginia coach Al Groh has beaten the Cavaliers’ arch rival Hokies just one time in his nine years at UVA. He and the Cavaliers look to make that number two and possibly avoid his firing this Saturday in Charlottesville. The Hokies are in a down year at 8-3 and will not contend for the ACC Championship,

Oklahoma State vs Oklahoma Pick

Not quite the same allure as the Red River Rivalry between Texas and Oklahoma, but this week’s Bedlam Rivalry game is Oklahoma State’s Super Bowl. The Cowboys have had a tremendous season so far and Oklahoma is sitting at 6-5, ensured of its worst season since 1999

Nevada vs Boise State Pick

Boise State doesn’t play too many home games where they are only 14 point favorites, but that is exactly what they are this week when Nevada comes to play on the blue turf. Boise State needs a win this week, and badly. Though the Broncos are 11-0, their only hope for a BCS appearance

Alabama vs Auburn Pick

Despite an 11-0 record up to this point, Alabama still realistically needs to win its next two games to get into the National Championship. With Florida a perfect 11-0 as well, the Crimson Tide will need to beat Auburn this week and Florida in the SEC Championship

Raiders vs Cowboys Pick

At first glance you might think that it was quite a shocker that Oakland beat Cincinnati last week, but at we said the Bengals were coming off their biggest win in years and might be flat. We also felt that Jamarcus Russell was hindering the Raider offense and the switch to anybody but he was the correct move

Saints vs Buccaneers Pick

We said last week that New Orleans is having a difficult time lately being the hunted as opposed to the hunter. They will continue to play that way until they finally lose a game. The sports books here say take the home dog and we will. Traditionally in late November there are always a weekend where there are a lot of crazy upsets

Saints vs Rams Pick

Part 3 of our 3 team teaser bet is a bit of a risk. Any time you bet against a high powered offense such as New Orleans, Colts, or New England you take a chance. New Orleans however is becoming the hunted as opposed to the hunter. It is easier to win when when you play to win as opposed to playing to not lose

Panthers vs Saints Pick

The Saints showed that they are human, by not covering vs. Atlanta last week. Carolina shocked Arizona in Arizona. This is a division game and the Panthers will bring their "A" game this week. The Saints have been playing at a very high level every week

Falcons vs Saints Pick

Finally a game that we feel good about betting. The Saints have been playing great while Atlanta was playing very well till they looked flat vs. Dallas last week. New Orleans looked flat at Miami last week also. Maybe both teams were looking ahead to this week.

Saints vs Dolphins Pick

Both of these teams are coming of big wins. The Saints come in at 5-0 and look like the best team in football after beating the Giants 48-27. The Dolphins have won 2 straight and have shown that they are not going to quit on the season yet.

Chargers vs Dolphins Pick

Both of these teams have problems. Miami really can’t play offense at the N.F.L. level. They look like a college or high school team at times, with their “Wildcat” offense and their quarterback who throws the ball like a shot put. Another quarterback, who has a funky delivery is Phillip Rivers

Packers vs Rams

The next 2 games that we are picking, we are going a little bit out on a limb. There are 2 home dogs that both played very well last week as huge underdogs. Both teams had opportunities to win outright but didn’t.

Bengals at the Saints - Preseason 2009

New Orleans was a profitable machine last year for NFL bettors, finishing 10-5 AGAINST THE SPREAD despite an 8-8 record straight up.

Betting on bad weather games Betting on bad weather games

Stop thinking about rain by itself as a bad weather indicator. Look at the mix of wind, turf quality, and precipitation. It's the mix that matters, not one third of the mix.
