New Orleans Saints Picks
The best 2 teams made the Super Bowl. Two months ago this was the match up that everyone wanted, then people started to talk about San Diego, Dallas, Baltimore or whatever team played one good game. The same people that said that the Colts wouldn’t recover from resting Peyton Manning are the same ones that are saying the Colts can’t lose this week.
Super Bowl Betting
For sports fans, Super Bowl Sunday is one of the best days of the year. For bettors, it can be not only entertaining, but profitable as well. This year’s Super Bowl predictably pitted the New Orleans Saints against the Indianapolis Colts. Through 14 weeks of the NFL season, these two teams combined for an unconscious 26-0 record, before both teams clinched home field advantage for the playoffs and rested their starters.
The Saints started to play like they did earlier in the year last week, and the Viking defense helped us hit our under bet, as well as side–total parlay bet. The defensive ends got off the ball so fast it seemed like were in the backfield before Tony Romo was. The Saints will find a way to score some points here, the question is, can Brett Favre match Drew Brees stride for stride
Traditionally on the second weekend of the playoffs, the favorites win easy. In the last few years however this hasn't been always the case, as many wild card teams have gone on the road and won .We tend to look at the bigger picture and still are going to remember what has happened in the last 20 years, as opposed to the last few in making our picks here
With emotions running high on both sides of the ball, one team (Florida) will benefit greatly. The other will suffer an embarrassing loss on New Year’s Day. Cincinnati is playing without former head coach Brian Kelly, who led the Bearcats to significant success in recent years
Boy did the Saints really change the playoff picture with their loss to Dallas last week. Not only did it give life to the Cowboys, it showed that any team still might win the NFC. As a matter of fact these are our most likely teams to go to the Super bowl now. The Eagles, Saints, Giants, Cardinals, Cowboys, Packers and the Vikings in that order to win it all. Not quite the way the seeds are right now
We knew the Cowboys didn’t have enough guns to beat the Chargers last week, but this week is a different story. New Orleans has been just winning by the “skin of their teeth” lately, and will continue to until they finally lose their fear of losing their first game. People are fickle. You know that everybody is going to be betting the Saints here
If you have been following my column all year you know I always love a juicy dog and we have one here. We bet the Falcons +10 on Monday Night Football against the Saints a few weeks ago when nobody else did, and we won. We are taking Atlanta again here
Here we go, the type of game we like to bet on. 2 very good teams playing on National T.V and the Patriots are still pissed off about what happened to them at the Colts 2 weeks ago. New Orleans keeps on winning, but except for last week’s game against the Bucs
Virginia coach Al Groh has beaten the Cavaliers’ arch rival Hokies just one time in his nine years at UVA. He and the Cavaliers look to make that number two and possibly avoid his firing this Saturday in Charlottesville. The Hokies are in a down year at 8-3 and will not contend for the ACC Championship,
Not quite the same allure as the Red River Rivalry between Texas and Oklahoma, but this week’s Bedlam Rivalry game is Oklahoma State’s Super Bowl. The Cowboys have had a tremendous season so far and Oklahoma is sitting at 6-5, ensured of its worst season since 1999
Boise State doesn’t play too many home games where they are only 14 point favorites, but that is exactly what they are this week when Nevada comes to play on the blue turf. Boise State needs a win this week, and badly. Though the Broncos are 11-0, their only hope for a BCS appearance
Despite an 11-0 record up to this point, Alabama still realistically needs to win its next two games to get into the National Championship. With Florida a perfect 11-0 as well, the Crimson Tide will need to beat Auburn this week and Florida in the SEC Championship
At first glance you might think that it was quite a shocker that Oakland beat Cincinnati last week, but at we said the Bengals were coming off their biggest win in years and might be flat. We also felt that Jamarcus Russell was hindering the Raider offense and the switch to anybody but he was the correct move
We said last week that New Orleans is having a difficult time lately being the hunted as opposed to the hunter. They will continue to play that way until they finally lose a game. The sports books here say take the home dog and we will. Traditionally in late November there are always a weekend where there are a lot of crazy upsets
Part 3 of our 3 team teaser bet is a bit of a risk. Any time you bet against a high powered offense such as New Orleans, Colts, or New England you take a chance. New Orleans however is becoming the hunted as opposed to the hunter. It is easier to win when when you play to win as opposed to playing to not lose
The Saints showed that they are human, by not covering vs. Atlanta last week. Carolina shocked Arizona in Arizona. This is a division game and the Panthers will bring their "A" game this week. The Saints have been playing at a very high level every week
Finally a game that we feel good about betting. The Saints have been playing great while Atlanta was playing very well till they looked flat vs. Dallas last week. New Orleans looked flat at Miami last week also. Maybe both teams were looking ahead to this week.
Both of these teams are coming of big wins. The Saints come in at 5-0 and look like the best team in football after beating the Giants 48-27. The Dolphins have won 2 straight and have shown that they are not going to quit on the season yet.
This is the game of the week. We would love to pick this game outright, but it’s really too close to call. Unless you are one of those people that believe that the Eagles are going anywhere, you have to realize that the winner of this game will have the inside track to host the NFC Championship game.
These 2 teams are playing some of the best football in the NFL right now. We knew the Saints were one of the best teams in the league before the season, but the Jets have surprised us. We hate rookie coaches and rookie quarterbacks, but we always liked Mark Sanchez
Both of these teams have problems. Miami really can’t play offense at the N.F.L. level. They look like a college or high school team at times, with their “Wildcat” offense and their quarterback who throws the ball like a shot put. Another quarterback, who has a funky delivery is Phillip Rivers
The next 2 games that we are picking, we are going a little bit out on a limb. There are 2 home dogs that both played very well last week as huge underdogs. Both teams had opportunities to win outright but didn’t.
This game scares me, not only as a Giant fan but as a bettor. This is a trap game for the Giants. After 2 huge wins against division rivals, Dallas and Washington, they now play 3 games in a row versus bad teams
We knew Drew Brees and the Saints would be a team to reckon with this year, but they are scoring touchdowns like the Patriots of 2007. The Bills needed to beat the Bucs last week and they did. Buffalo has the secondary to slow down the Saints passing game.
Even though we don’t feel that Donovan McNabb is that great a quarterback, he is still better than Kevin Kolb. Since McNabb is out this week with cracked ribs, and Michael Vick is not yet off his suspension, the Eagles will lose this game.
The Saints have a very good chance to represent the NFC in the Super bowl this year. Drew Brees and the offense is unstoppable, the only problems come in the secondary.
New Orleans was a profitable machine last year for NFL bettors, finishing 10-5 AGAINST THE SPREAD despite an 8-8 record straight up.
Monday Night Football Betting
Probably the most well known handicapping angle is the “Monday Night Home Underdog.”
Stop thinking about rain by itself as a bad weather indicator. Look at the mix of wind, turf quality, and precipitation. It's the mix that matters, not one third of the mix.
Beating NFL 1st Quarter Lines
Bettors no longer have to look at mere sides and/or game totals to strike it rich as mostly all the online sports books (and many Las Vegas) outlets provide first and second half wagering lines along with quarter by quarter prices too on football betting.
