Oakland Raiders Betting
(5-11, 7-9 Against the Spread): +5500 to win Super Bowl XLIV
Bet on the Oakland Raiders this season at our number 1 rated sportsbook BookMaker.com
The Raiders will be a solid bet when they face division rivals, especially on the road where they were 5-3 against the spread last season. The coaching staff seems to be on track and the stockpiling of talent could come to a head while the rest of the AFC West struggles.
Raiders Strength:
Don't look now, but with the AFC West the way it is, the Raiders could make a push at the division title. That push starts at running back where Oakland boasts an exciting group of rushers. Most notable is second-year back Darren McFadden, who if healthy, is a game-breaking talent when given space. His backup Justin Fargas is a solid option on offense. He posted over 900 all-purpose yards last season. Finally Michael Bush is a battering ram that scored three times and put up 4.5 yards per carry in 2008.
The Raiders’ recent plight has brought in a ton of promising defensive talent. Linebackers Thomas Howard and Kirk Morrison can cover a lot of field and are terrific in coverage. Derrick Burgess is a monster on the line and when healthy, is a QB's worst nightmare. In the secondary, Nnamdi Asomugha is a Pro Bowl corner and possibly the best coverage man in the NFL. The biggest knock against those players are the talents – or lack of – around them.
Raiders Weakness:
Oakland allowed the second-most yards on the ground in the league in 2008, budging for just under 160 yards per game. Tackles Gerard Warren and Tommy Kelly couldn't plug a sink and the linebacker corps doesn't have much depth behind Howard and Morrison, especially in terms of stopping the run.
The Raiders are still holding their breath on JaMarcus Russell. The former No. 1 pick looked good at the end of last season. But that was after he posted a 7-to-5 touchdown-to-interception count in the first 14 weeks of the season. Russell has all the physical attributes you could want in a contemporary QB but has yet to prove his game smarts. The team is hoping veteran Jeff Garcia can help with that. Oakland brought in Garcia to put a little pressure on the less-than motivated youngster and could end up taking his job if Russell continues to fall short.

With emotions running high on both sides of the ball, one team (Florida) will benefit greatly. The other will suffer an embarrassing loss on New Year’s Day. Cincinnati is playing without former head coach Brian Kelly, who led the Bearcats to significant success in recent years
The Browns have started to play surprisingly better the last few weeks. It is hard to believe that they like Eric Mangini enough to try to save his job. There is however a lot of talent on this team, that hasn’t performed up to their potential
Both of these teams were the surprise teams of last week. One succeeded in their mission of pulling a major upset and one fell slightly short. Washington had New Orleans beat last week but found a way to screw it up at the end. We still hit on Washington and the points which is all we really care about. Oakland stood tall
Not quite the same allure as the Red River Rivalry between Texas and Oklahoma, but this week’s Bedlam Rivalry game is Oklahoma State’s Super Bowl. The Cowboys have had a tremendous season so far and Oklahoma is sitting at 6-5, ensured of its worst season since 1999
Virginia coach Al Groh has beaten the Cavaliers’ arch rival Hokies just one time in his nine years at UVA. He and the Cavaliers look to make that number two and possibly avoid his firing this Saturday in Charlottesville. The Hokies are in a down year at 8-3 and will not contend for the ACC Championship,
Despite an 11-0 record up to this point, Alabama still realistically needs to win its next two games to get into the National Championship. With Florida a perfect 11-0 as well, the Crimson Tide will need to beat Auburn this week and Florida in the SEC Championship
Boise State doesn’t play too many home games where they are only 14 point favorites, but that is exactly what they are this week when Nevada comes to play on the blue turf. Boise State needs a win this week, and badly. Though the Broncos are 11-0, their only hope for a BCS appearance
At first glance you might think that it was quite a shocker that Oakland beat Cincinnati last week, but at we said the Bengals were coming off their biggest win in years and might be flat. We also felt that Jamarcus Russell was hindering the Raider offense and the switch to anybody but he was the correct move
Everybody thought we were crazy when we bet Cincinnati to win their division before the season, but I quess we weren't so crazy. It was simply a process of elimination. There were only 4 possibilities. It wasn’t going to be Cleveland, Pittsburgh was drinking champagne, and at the time I placed my bet Baltimore’s only good receiver was in retirement
What the hell is going on in Oakland lately.Even for a team with a history of excentric players this is extreme. The whole Tom Cable saga, Jamarcus Russel,Al Davis and the rest of this dysfunctional family is the worst run team in the NFL.
After beating Philly 2 weeks ago the Raiders lost by 38 points to the Jets at home.San Diego got back on track by beating K.C. by 30.On paper this game is no contest. We have spoken before about, doing the opposite of common sense in sports betting and having some balls, but even I don’t have enough courage to take Oakland
We weren’t shocked by either result last week. Although the Raiders have been playing terrible this year, the Eagles should not have been a 14-point favorite. The Jets came off a tough loss at Miami, and weren’t prepared to play
This game scares us. The Raiders looked like a bad high school team last week at the Giants. The Eagles still haven’t played anyone good, and when they did they got killed by New Orleans. Philly shouldn’t be laying 2 touchdowns vs. anybody
The Giants are on part 3 of their 3 game swing against bad teams. Eli Manning has a slight injury to his heel and may not play. This won’t matter very much
We had another good week as we went 6-1 with our picks last week. Unfortunately Cardinal mistakes cost us our 4 team teaser. We won’t make that same mistake this week.
Both of these teams have problems. Miami really can’t play offense at the N.F.L. level. They look like a college or high school team at times, with their “Wildcat” offense and their quarterback who throws the ball like a shot put. Another quarterback, who has a funky delivery is Phillip Rivers
This game scares me, not only as a Giant fan but as a bettor. This is a trap game for the Giants. After 2 huge wins against division rivals, Dallas and Washington, they now play 3 games in a row versus bad teams
One of the better rivalry games in the N.F.L. Somehow (don’t ask me how), the Broncos are 2-0.The Raiders have played very well in almost beating the Chargers and beating the Chiefs.
The next 2 games that we are picking, we are going a little bit out on a limb. There are 2 home dogs that both played very well last week as huge underdogs. Both teams had opportunities to win outright but didn’t.
Oakland showed that they are going to be competitive by giving San Diego all they can handle on Monday night last week. Jamarcus Russell still makes too many mistakes, but their defense and running game will keep them in most games this year.
Our second Monday night game is also tough to bet on. You can always place a fun 2 team parlay bet, on both games, just to enjoy them, but this is another dangerous game to bet on.
Led by Tony Romo, the Cowboys finished a disappointing 9-7 last season (7-9 AGAINST THE SPREAD), putting the pressure on the third year starter and head coach Wade Phillips.
Monday Night Football Betting
Probably the most well known handicapping angle is the “Monday Night Home Underdog.”
Stop thinking about rain by itself as a bad weather indicator. Look at the mix of wind, turf quality, and precipitation. It's the mix that matters, not one third of the mix.
Beating NFL 1st Quarter Lines
Bettors no longer have to look at mere sides and/or game totals to strike it rich as mostly all the online sports books (and many Las Vegas) outlets provide first and second half wagering lines along with quarter by quarter prices too on football betting.
