(7-9, 7-8-1 AGAINST THE SPREAD): +4500 to win Super Bowl XLIV

Bet on the San Francisco 49ers this season at our number 1 rated sportsbook BookMaker.com

San Francisco is a dark horse in the NFC West thanks to its defense. If the offense can keep pace and an improved O-line doesn't give up 55 sacks again, the 49ers have a shot at upsetting the Cardinals and surprising nfl betting fans.

49ers Strength:

With a former warhorse like Mike Singletary at the helm, it's no surprise the Niners’ defense is beginning to show its teeth. After firing Mike Nolan midway through 2008, San Francisco went from allowing almost 29 points to just under 19 points per game.

The 49ers have a promising roster of young stoppers, most notably LB Patrick Willis. He had 141 tackles last year and should improve on his solo sack with some fuel from Singletary. Fellow linebackers Parys Haralson and Manny Lawson are beginning to blossom. The 3-4 has a steady front in Justin Smith, Isaac Sopoaga and nosetackle Aubrayo Franklin and boasts the bodies to back those spots up.

San Francisco gave RB Frank Gore a helping hand when they stole Alabama RB Glen Coffee in the third round. The Niners and new offensive coordinator Jimmy Raye are committing to the ground game this season, putting the ball in Gore's shaky hands the majority of the time. Outside of his fumbles, Gore is still an effective rusher who has strung together three straight 1,000-plus yard seasons. Coffee's power and downhill style will allow the featured back to get a breather.

49ers Weakness:

The Niners have said they are giving the ball to Shawn Hill to start the year but still hold a cloud over the quarterback's head with former No. 1 pick Alex Smith. Hill isn't going to wow defenses but is steady and has the winning percentage to prove it. However, QB controversies are never good for QB-WR relations and could put a hitch in their offensive giddy up this season. Especially with a talent like WR Michael Crabtree joining the team, San Francisco will want to settle on a QB sooner than later.

Against the pass, the 49ers will struggle. An influx on new players alongside old ones will keep San Francisco a step behind offenses this season. Veteran Walt Harris, who led the team with three picks in 2008, is another year older and CB Nate Clemens has the “overrated” tag hanging around his neck. The Niners allowed over 220 yards through the air and collected just 12 interceptions last season.

Time Team
Florida vs. Cincinnati Pick

With emotions running high on both sides of the ball, one team (Florida) will benefit greatly. The other will suffer an embarrassing loss on New Year’s Day. Cincinnati is playing without former head coach Brian Kelly, who led the Bearcats to significant success in recent years

Cardinals vs 49ers Pick

Arizona showed that they could be back in the Super Bowl by destroying Minnesota last week. San Francisco lost a close one to Seattle. The 49ers went to the Cardinals on opening day and came away with a 20-16 victory, so don’t think for a second that the Cardinals

Jaguars vs 49ers Pick

Jacksonville is slowly but surely getting back in the play off picture. They come into this game at 6-4 and have as good a chance as anyone to get a wild card birth. The 49ers have been playing better as of late and covered by a half point

Oklahoma State vs Oklahoma Pick

Not quite the same allure as the Red River Rivalry between Texas and Oklahoma, but this week’s Bedlam Rivalry game is Oklahoma State’s Super Bowl. The Cowboys have had a tremendous season so far and Oklahoma is sitting at 6-5, ensured of its worst season since 1999

Virginia Tech vs Virginia Pick

Virginia coach Al Groh has beaten the Cavaliers’ arch rival Hokies just one time in his nine years at UVA. He and the Cavaliers look to make that number two and possibly avoid his firing this Saturday in Charlottesville. The Hokies are in a down year at 8-3 and will not contend for the ACC Championship,

Alabama vs Auburn Pick

Despite an 11-0 record up to this point, Alabama still realistically needs to win its next two games to get into the National Championship. With Florida a perfect 11-0 as well, the Crimson Tide will need to beat Auburn this week and Florida in the SEC Championship

Nevada vs Boise State Pick

Boise State doesn’t play too many home games where they are only 14 point favorites, but that is exactly what they are this week when Nevada comes to play on the blue turf. Boise State needs a win this week, and badly. Though the Broncos are 11-0, their only hope for a BCS appearance

Raiders vs Cowboys Pick

At first glance you might think that it was quite a shocker that Oakland beat Cincinnati last week, but at we said the Bengals were coming off their biggest win in years and might be flat. We also felt that Jamarcus Russell was hindering the Raider offense and the switch to anybody but he was the correct move

49ers vs Packers Pick

San Francisco won an ugly game at home last week vs. Chicago. We won on Green Bay +3 against the Cowboys, and also hit on a halftime bet of Green bay +3. It looks like the Packers have corrected what was wrong with them

Bears vs 49ers Pick

Another good week, as we went 6-3 on our picks and hit our 3 team teaser bet. We are going to start out the week by picking part one of our 3 team 10 point teaser. Both the Bears and Niners haven’t been playing too well as of late and need a win badly

Titans vs 49ers Pick

We knew the bye week would help the Titans play better. They couldn’t play any worse than their 59-0 loss to New England. Vince Young played like an NFL Quarterback for one week. San Francisco was winning that game at the Colts last week at one point

49ers vs Colts Pick

The 49ers almost went into Houston and won last week, and except for the bad game they played against Atlanta they have been in every game this year. Indy is starting to look like the Colts of a few years ago. There was a rumor about a flu outbreak on the Colts last week

49ers vs Texans Pick

We like both of these teams very much. The Texans showed that they are for real by beating the Bengals last week in Cincinnati, raising their record to a respectable 3-3. San Francisco was playing great until they were killed by Atlanta 2 weeks ago

Falcons vs 49ers Pick

Boy, the 49ers, under new Coach Mike Singletary are playing great. It goes to show you how, a little discipline, goes a long way. More than in any other sport, coaching really can make the difference in the NFL.

49ers vs Rams Pick

St. Louis cost us a huge parlay last week as we bet both the Rams and Lions on the money line, to pull off upsets. We were half right. The reason the Rams didn’t beat the Packers last week, aside from sloppy play by the defense was Mark Bulger getting hurt at the beginning of the game.

Chargers vs Dolphins Pick

Both of these teams have problems. Miami really can’t play offense at the N.F.L. level. They look like a college or high school team at times, with their “Wildcat” offense and their quarterback who throws the ball like a shot put. Another quarterback, who has a funky delivery is Phillip Rivers

Giants vs Buccaneers Pick

This game scares me, not only as a Giant fan but as a bettor. This is a trap game for the Giants. After 2 huge wins against division rivals, Dallas and Washington, they now play 3 games in a row versus bad teams

49ers vs Vikings Pick

The Vikings are overrated; the 49ers are underrated. We really don’t know why everybody loves the Vikings this year. I guess Brett Favre, Adrian Peterson, and a good defense is making the experts think they have a shot to go to the Super Bowl

Packers vs Rams

The next 2 games that we are picking, we are going a little bit out on a limb. There are 2 home dogs that both played very well last week as huge underdogs. Both teams had opportunities to win outright but didn’t.

Seahawks vs 49ers Betting

The Seahawks crushed the Rams last week, but it’s not time yet to start talking Championship yet in Seattle. The Rams are still getting adjusted to the changes that the new coach put in.

Cardinals vs 49ers Betting

This is going to be a good game. Everybody saw how good the Arizona Cardinals can be at times last year, when they almost won it all.

Broncos at the 49ers - Preseason 2009

The Broncos take on a much different look this season after having to replace long time head coach Mike Shanahan (retirement), one of the game’s most successful coaches

Monday Night Football Betting Monday Night Football Betting

Probably the most well known handicapping angle is the “Monday Night Home Underdog.”

Betting on bad weather games Betting on bad weather games

Stop thinking about rain by itself as a bad weather indicator. Look at the mix of wind, turf quality, and precipitation. It's the mix that matters, not one third of the mix.

Beating NFL 1st Quarter Lines Beating NFL 1st Quarter Lines

Bettors no longer have to look at mere sides and/or game totals to strike it rich as mostly all the online sports books (and many Las Vegas) outlets provide first and second half wagering lines along with quarter by quarter prices too on football betting.
