Football Rules
The game is very tactical and strategical. 22 players are involved at the same time (11 per team) with an assigned task for each movement.
The match is started by a kick to the ball in which one of the teams gave away the ball to opponents. The purpose is to kick it as far as possible and the rival should restore it to the starting line, although it the receiver player is usually taken down.
If the ball leaves the ground at the rear side the attack begins in the 20th yard and if it comes out by the side in the 40th yard.
Each play ends when the player carrying the ball is tackled in the field, in which case the time clock is still ticking, or when leaving the ground, by choice or by a push of an opponent, in which case it stops the clock. The same happens when the player score points.
Result of a tie at the end of the match an extra time is required in the professional league, which is defined by sudden death.
In NCAA college football there is no time limit. Although there’s annotation, the opponent has a chance to respond.
The Essence
The goal of the game is as follows
A) In the offensive, carrying the ball running or passing forward to get it in a given rectangle, known as scoring area, that is called Touchdown which earn 6 points plus the right to try to score an extra point with a field goal.
B) In the defense not to let the rival team advance to the area of entry or goal field, attacking the player who holds the ball, or the one who will receive. The goal is to bring it back, not allowing progress, forcing it to release the ovoid or lose yards.
Plays
In football there are two types of moves KICK OFFS and DOWNS. The first is done rarely in games. Only at the start of the match and at the beginning of the second part, or after an entry.
In a KICK OFF a team will kick the ball and the other after catch it move with it until the player that holds it is either taken down or leave the field.
DOWN is the other play. Will take place in 95% of the time. It begins with a SNAP (throwing the ball to a partner who is behind the opponents) and ends when the player carrying the ovoid is tackled or out of the demarcated area.
The offensive has 4 DOWNS have to move the ball 10 yards forward.
