Auburn beat Arkansas State 52-26 in Week 1, which would potentially be a bad omen for the Tigers, especially because Mississippi State crushed Memphis 49-7 and would have shut out the Tigers out if not for a garbage time late touchdown. Mississippi State was superb in the win, racking up 569 yards of offense behind a 13 for 16 passing performance by quarterback Tyler Russell that included 256 yards and four touchdowns. Memphis never had a chance.
Auburn’s defense may cause some concerns when matched up with Mississippi State’s effective offense. Make a small play on Auburn and the points, but the real value is in the OVER. This game should be a shoot out with scores early and often.
