March Madness Sweet Sixteen Betting

(3) Baylor (27-7) vs. (10) St. Mary’s (28-5)
The breakdown: The darkhorse of the remaining field, Baylor faces off against Cinderella St. Mary’s in the Sweet 16 in the South region.
Why Baylor will win: Like Purdue, nobody expected St. Mary’s to make it to the Sweet 16. This game is much more winnable for Baylor than Villanova would have been, and it will take all of the Bears’ focus not to look past the Gaels and peer into the Elite Eight. LaceDarius Dunn and Tweety Carter are the team’s stars, and will have to act like it to get Baylor past a pesky St. Mary’s squad.
Why St. Mary’s will win: Big man Omar Samhan has teams in the field worried about how to stop him. Against Richmond, he finished with 29 points and 12 rebounds, and against Villanova, Samhan tallied 32 points and 7 rebounds. Baylor is a better big man team, and Ekpe Udoh will have his hands full with Samhan.
Pick: Baylor by 4.
