The “must watch” game of Week 1 in the college football season will be taking place in the nation’s capital, when Virginia Tech and Boise State square off at 8 PM. The Broncos return significantly more starters – 10 on offense and nine on defense – than Virginia Tech’s 13 returners, but the match up to watch here is both team’s quarterbacks.
The Hokies return senior passer Tyrod Taylor, a dual threat capable of making teams pay in the air and on the ground, while Boise State returns Kellen Moore, who has thrown for more than 7,000 yards in the past two seasons, or 260 yards per game. Last year, Moore threw for 39 touchdowns and only three interceptions, a sign that this year should be just as good for Boise State as it was last year.
The critics say that Boise State must play a tougher schedule, which they will when they join the Mountain West Conference in the near future. But this game should be a notch on Boise State’s belt if the Broncos come out on top. Take Boise State -2.5 points.
