NFL Week 7 Betting Previews- San Diego Chargers vs. New York Jets Point spread: San Diego -1 Over/Under: 43.5 The San Diego Chargers come off their bye week and change coasts for a Sunday afternoon showdown with the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The game is set to get underway at 1 p.m. (ET) and it will be broadcast on CBS. San Diego has avoided its traditional slow-start to jump out to a 4-1 record straight-up (2-3 against the spread). It posted a 29-24 win over Denver its last time out as a 3.5-point road favorite. The total went ‘over’ the 47-point line in that game but stayed ‘under’ in three of its four previous games. Despite the solid record, the Chargers have not looked overly impressive in tight wins over Minnesota, Kansas City, Miami, and the Broncos, who have a combined record of just 4-17. Quarterback Philip Rivers has done a good job leading an offense that is ranked sixth overall and San Diego’s defense is ranked fourth overall, but just like last season, the performance on the field does not always add up to the numbers on the paper. New York is coming off a 24-6 win of its own against the Dolphins this past Monday night as a seven-point home favorite to snap a three-game skid. It is now an even 3-3 SU on the year and 2-4 ATS. The total has gone ‘over’ in four of its six games. Head coach Rex Ryan prides himself on a team that can run the ball and shut teams down on defense, but so far this formula has been a bit off this season. The Jets are ranked 31st in the league in rushing offense with an average of just 80.8 yards a game. Their defense is ranked 11th overall, but has been unable to stop the run; giving up an average of 132 yards a game on the ground, which is ranked 28th. The Chargers are 2-6-1 ATS in their last nine games as a road favorite and the total has stayed ‘under’ in seven of their last 10 games as a favorite overall. The Jets are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall and the total has stayed ‘under’ in four of their last five games as a home underdog. New York eliminated San Diego from the playoffs last season with a 17-14 victory as a 7.5-point road underdog, but stick with the Chargers to return the favor in a game that stays under the 43.5-point line. This game will be tight so be sure to track the lines as the week progresses at BetAnySport.com. The Pick: San Diego 23       New York 20
