The breakdown: Two teams that are criminally under seeded, Temple and Cornell could have easily gone far in the tournament if they hadn’t been matched up against each other in the first round. As it stands, Temple is a four point favorite.
Why Temple will win: Make no mistake about the seeding, Temple is good enough to have been a three seed, but didn’t get that because the committee felt that other teams were more deserving of a top three seed. Temple should show up with a chip on its shoulder, and will use its suffocating defense to put out the Big Red.
Why Cornell will win: One of the most efficient teams in the country, Cornell could easily become this year’s biggest Cinderella story. If Temple doesn’t bring its A game, Cornell will capitalize on it with long, controlled possessions ending in points almost every time.
