Most Dominant home teams in College Football
Some teams never seem to lose at home. Maybe it’s the result of being dominant in a major conference, like Southern Cal in the Pac-10 or Oklahoma and Texas in the Big 12. Maybe it’s the result of being significantly better than the rest of your conference.
Boise State has won nearly 97 percent of their home games in the last 10 years, compiling a 56-2 record. During that time, they have been underdogs twice at home, and neither of those games have come in the last four years.
Simply put, the Broncos face an inferior schedule due to being much, much better than the rest of their conference. No conference opponents will come into Boise as favorites, at least not for the foreseeable future.
Oklahoma and Texas aren’t far behind, though that speaks volumes due to a significantly tougher schedule and a significantly tougher conference. Oklahoma is 55-2 at home, including one game as an underdog at home. Texas is 50-4 at home and has not been an underdog once in the last decade. Let that sink in for a minute.
On the flip side, Buffalo, Army and Duke are the three teams most frequently tabbed as underdogs at home. Buffalo has a 15-33 record at home for the last 10 years, including 36 times as the home dog. Army fares even worse at home, compiling a 13-36 record at home, with 36 games as the home dog. But neither of those teams can even sniff Duke, who have won just 10 games at home in the past 10 years, losing 44 in that time, as home dogs 43 times.
So what does all of this mean? Well, take the moneyline for Boise State, Oklahoma and Texas when they are on their home turf. And feel free to bet on whoever is traveling to Buffalo, Army and Duke.
