Saturday, December 26 – Emerald Nuts Bowl -- Southern Cal -9.5 vs. Boston College
Coming into the season, Southern Cal would have bet the house that they would be playing in a January bowl game. After all, the Trojans have not played in a December bowl game in nearly 10 years. Pete Carroll did not have much of a choice, having started freshman quarterback Matt Barkley all season long, but Southern Cal did finish with a disappointing 8-4 record.
Boston College finished about where most had expected, but remain a big underdog heading into the post Christmas match up.
Boston College really isn’t that good but neither is Southern Cal. Both teams played in weak conferences, with U.S.C. playing in the better one. U.S.C. made a mistake by playing a freshman quarterback this year. This isn’t the Trojans that we have been used to seeing over the years. Boston College also isn’t as good as it was since they lost Matt Ryan who is now on the Falcons. This game will be back and forth, with both teams having a chance to win. In a situation like this you must take the generous 7.5 point spot.
Look for the Trojans to win this game by a touchdown, with nothing much to play for. Take Boston College and the points.
