Fresno State Bulldogs at No. 10 Nebraska Cornhuskers (-28), Total 50 |
Fresno State surrendered 314 yards in the first half in a 36-21 neutral-site loss to the California Golden Bears last week and will be facing another mobile quarterback in heading to Lincoln, Nebraska.
The Bulldogs offense was led by quarterback David Carr, throwing for 150 yards on 21-of-33 passing attempts with a single touchdown and interception.
There’s certainly still progress to be made on both sides of the ball and veteran head coach Pat Hill knows it. “I really think we can make the improvements we need to make,” Hill stated after the game. “We’ll have to make them real, real fast this week.”
Fresno State gained just 210 total yards offensively and surrendered 413 yards when the final whistle blew.
The program has dropped 12 in a row to ranked competition, with the last win combine in the 2004 postseason. It’s still important to note that the school is 17-25 when playing teams from BCS conferences.
Sportsbooks bettors will be interested to know that the Bulldogs are 4-1 ATS versus Big Ten opponents, while going over the total in seven of their last nine September contests.
Nebraska failed as 36.5-point home favorites in last week’s 40-7 win over Chattanooga, out-gaining its lower-tier opponent by just 134 yards. The Cornhuskers were debuting a lot of players in new positions and it caused for things to not run as smooth as head coach Bo Pelini would like.
“I want to see things transfer from the practice field,” Pelini stated this week. “I just saw some guys revert. When you go into a game, you’ve got to lean on your technique, lean on the fundamentals.”
The Cornhuskers will likely have no problems tallying a victory this week, bringing in a 22-1 all-time record against current members from the WAC, including 21 consecutive wins.
Pelini has turned things around during his time on the sidelines and Nebraska is just one of 10 schools with nine wins or more in each of the past three seasons.
Before placing a wager, definitely be aware of the Cornhuskers 2-10-1 ATS mark as a favorite of 10.5 or more points.
