New York leads the regular season series, 91-64-4, and swept last year’s meetings by a combined score of 48-21.  The Giants have definitely dominated the series recently, winning six consecutive games against their NFC East rivals.

The team has undergone some major changes on the offensive end, replacing three offensive linemen, a tight end and wide receiver, but running back Brandon Jacobs still finds the unit to be explosive.

“We have a lot of talent in our offense,” Jacobs commented this week.  “We have a lot of young guys and we have a leader that’s putting his foot down harder and harder every year.”

Eli Manning will be making his 104th straight start under center, looking to bounce back from a season that saw him toss an NFL-high 25 interceptions.  He has a great chance of being successful against an opponent that the franchise has beaten the last six times they’ve opened a season against.

Wide receiver Mario Manningham will be matching up with Washington Redskins star cornerback DeAngelo Hall, needing to improve upon his career numbers against the team, coming in with 12 catches for 239 yards in four games.

New York has enjoyed great success as a road favorite in betting predictions, covering seven of its last eight opportunities when giving three points or less.

It hasn’t been all bad for Washington when opening the season, winning four home openers in a row, but the Redskins will also be looking to snap a five-game losing streak at FedEx Field.

Head coach Mike Shanahan oversaw a heated quarterback competition during the preseason, ultimately choosing Rex Grossman over John Beck.

Grossman played in three preseason games and led the offense with 34-of-53 completions for 407 yards.  He also threw two touchdowns and a single interception.

Turnovers has always been a problem for the former Florida Gators star, tossing 36 interceptions and fumbling 10 times in six years as a member of the Chicago Bears.

Defensively, the squad has been working tirelessly to sure up a run defense that will be going against an offense that ranked second in the NFC with 137.5 rushing yards a year ago.  New York accumulated 279 yards in two games against Washington during the 2010 campaign.

NFL betting fans may dabble in playing the Redskins due to their 3-0 ATS mark as an underdog overall, but the team is 1-5 ATS when given points on its home field.
