Houston -1 at East Carolina
If there is one thing that Houston can do, and can do well, it is scoring a flurry of points quickly. In fact, the Cougars lead the country in yardage and points per game, and have tallied 64 offensive touchdowns in 12 games. Houston has put up 45 points or more six times this season, so those numbers are no fluke.
And, while East Carolina (8-4, 7-1 C USA) is fighting for its life for a Conference USA Championship, that doesn’t look like it is in the cards. The Pirates have four legitimate losses, to West Virginia, North Carolina, Virginia Tech and Southern Methodist, and have won the rest, but Houston is just as good as those four teams. If East Carolina has one trend in its favor, it is that the Pirates have just one loss at home this year, a 16-3 hiccup to Virginia Tech. Look for Houston to hang 45 and win this game in a shoot out that may approach the 70 point range. Take the Cougars and the points.
