Jacksonville Jaguars at New England Patriots (-4) - Total 35.5
The New England Patriots are four-point home favorites in their pre-season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars and the total checks in at 35.5. The Patriots posted a 2-1-1 ATS mark during exhibition play in 2010, including a 27-24 win over the Saints as 1.5-point favorites at Gillette Stadium.
Quarterback Tom Brady and head coach Bill Belichick have been known as fast starters during the pre-season, posting a 7-1 ATS mark in Week 1.
Plenty of new faces are found in camp, including wide receiver Chad Ochocinco and defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth. Both could see action Thursday night.
Jacksonville has been very busy in accumulating new players since the lockout was lifted last week and focus in camp has been spent on improving a defense that allowed a franchise-record 419 points a year ago.
The Jaguars covered the number in three of four pre-seasons games last year, including a 28-27 road loss to the Eagles as their only game as an underdog (+3).
