The eagerly awaited showdown between David Haye and Vladimir Klitschko just got spicier thanks to some comments made by both camps in the week leading up to the fight. Haye, a 7-5 underdog with the sports books, claimed Klitschko fought like a 'robot' who would 'malfunction' on the night of the fight.
Klitschko, the favourite at 4-7, responded by remarking that Haye would be taught a lesson in manners and would hear the count of ten before the fight was over. The war of words is a tasty reminder of what is in store on July 2nd, a bona fide heavyweight contest with both protagonists in the shapeof their life.
Haye in particular has looked in excellent condition and always comes to fight. Klitschko however can not be discounted and has a greater share of the heavyweight belts.
Speed will be a key factor according to former heavyweight champion of the world Lennox Lewis. With David Haye being the smaller, faster man, he must rely on his speed advantages to negate the power and size of Klitschko. However, Klitschko has shown frailty in the past, particularly in the later rounds, and Haye is no slouch in the power department. It is for this reason I make Haye favourite to win the fight by mid to late rounds stoppage.
