(21) LSU at Vanderbilt, 7 PM

Heading into halftime of LSU’s season opener against North Carolina, the Tigers led 30-10 and had completely thrown the Tar Heels off their game plan. Yet, in the second half, the Heels’ offense clicked, and quarterback TJ Yates threw for 412 yards and three touchdowns, leading a comeback. LSU came out on top, but questions arose about their ability to stop an effective passer.

Meanwhile, Vanderbilt lost at home to Northwestern, but the lone bright spot was quarterback Larry Smith, who threw for 240 yards and rushed for 46 more. Smith will not be able to single handedly carry the Commodores to victory, and will not be able to keep the game close by himself, either. Look for LSU to win convincingly on the road in Tennessee. Take LSU and the points.
