While New Mexico coach Mike Locksley continues to make headlines by bringing in high profile transfers – athlete Lamaar Thomas from Ohio State and wide receiver Deon Long from West Virginia, among others – he has yet to actually be successful as a head coach.

Locksley and the Lobos hope that tide changes from last year’s 1-11 team, but returning just 11 total starters will not help get them much better.

Oregon, meanwhile, could have been a front runner for a national championship if not for quarterback Jeremiah Masoli, one of the team’s stars last year, being dismissed from the team. Now, the most experience the Ducks have at quarterback is senior Nate Costa, who was 20 for 33 for 197 yards, one touchdown and one interception last year: not what they had hoped for.

Oregon returns 19 starters and will have no problem putting New Mexico away, but watch Costa closely to see if he is developing into a Pac 10 caliber starter. Oregon will not win this game by five touchdowns. Take New Mexico +33.
