Northwestern and Auburn took distinctly different paths en route to the Outback Bowl. The Wildcats won their last three games, including two against ranked opponents – wins at No. 8 Iowa and against No. 17 Wisconsin – while Auburn lost five of its last seven games. All in all, it was a successful season for Northwestern and a disappointing one for Auburn.
The Tigers are certainly better prepared for the bowl, having endured a long SEC conference schedule, but may not be worthy of being nearly double digit favorites. The Wildcats put up a fight at the end of the season and showed they can hang with real competition. Look for Auburn to win this by a touchdown. Take Northwestern and the points.
