The Green Bay Packers continue their quest for the top spot in the NFC this Sunday afternoon when the travel west to face the San Diego Chargers, who are just trying to hold onto the top spot in their division. Game time from Qualcomm Stadium is set for 4:15 p.m. (ET) and it will be broadcast nationally on FOX.

Green Bay will try and wrap-up the first half of its season as the only undefeated team in the NFL after reeling off seven straight wins to start the year. It has also been a solid play against the spread as well with a record of 5-2.

Last week’s 33-27 victory over Minnesota as 10-point road favorites was one of the few Packers games that was not already decided heading into the fourth quarter. The total went ‘over’ the 47-point line and has now gone ‘over’ in four of their first seven games.

San Diego has been notorious for slow starts in the past and despite a winning record of 4-3 SU (2-5 ATS) you would have to say that the first half of this season falls into the same category. The big question moving forward, is can the Chargers snap out of their funk with both Kansas City and Oakland charging hard on the outside for the division title?

On paper, the Chargers do not look so bad with the sixth-ranked offense and defense in the league, but upon closer inspection there are some serious cracks in the foundation. Philip Rivers has four more interceptions (11) than touchdowns (7) and has been sacked 17 times. To make matters worse, he fumbled a snap at the end of last Monday night’s game against the Chiefs that ended up costing his team the win.

Green Bay is 6-2 ATS in its last eight games on the road and the total has stayed ‘under’ in eight of its last 10 games as a road favorite.
San Diego is 2-6-1 ATS in its last nine games overall. The total has stayed ‘under’ in its last seven games at home.

The Packers are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings between the two, however the last time they met was in 2007. This could be a potential trap game for Green Bay against a team that capable of playing much better than it has. While it is doubtful that the Chargers will be able to pull-off the outright upset, take them to cover at home with the six points. The Pick: Green Bay 30      San Diego 27
