Washington Redskins at Baltimore Ravens (-5.5), Total 33.5
Washington has covered both of its preseason contests this year with a 16-7 home win over the Pittsburgh Steelers and 16-3 road victory over the Indianapolis Colts. The Redskins have fallen into one of the best betting categories of all during preseason action—quarterbacks competing for the starting spot.
The Redskins started Rex Grossman in the opener and then proceeded in allowing John Beck to assume control of the team last week. Head coach Mike Shanahan has kept things quiet in regards to committing to a starter this week.
“We’ll probably have the Giants get ready for both,” Shanahan commented Monday. “It doesn’t happen very often, but we have two quarterbacks we believe in and they’re close right now.”
Baltimore doesn’t have the same problem with fourth-year starter Joe Flacco under center. He completed 12-of-24 passes for 124 yards in the team’s 31-13 home win over the Kansas City Chiefs as 6.5-point favorites.
The Ravens have had a pretty uneventful offseason after the opening week dismissals of tight end Todd Heap and wide receiver Derrick Mason.
Newly-acquired Lee Evans has shown an instant chemistry with Flacco in catching three passes for 68 yards last week.
Bettors should continue to ride the Redskins due to the quarterback situation, while the Ravens are simply getting ready for their regular-season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
