There were some tough losses last weeks for teams, but none tougher for bettors than the people that had Chicago +5. Chicago was up by 2 points with Green Bay driving for a possible winning field goal. Bettors didn’t care because 3 points doesn’t affect the spread. Even a possible 7 points makes the games a push. Low and behold, Green Bay goes for the touchdown, and a meaningless 2 point convertion, and suddenly the Packer bettors are getting paid, instead the Chicago bettors, or at least a push.
The Bears lost Brian Urlacher for the season, with a broken wrist, huge loss. The Steelers got lucky as they always do and won a game they had no business winning in the Thursday opener. The Bears need this one badly, and better win this, or it’s going to be a long year in Chicago.
