The Pittsburgh Steelers will try and win their third straight game when they take on the Houston Texans at Reliant Stadium this upcoming Sunday afternoon. The kick-off is slated for 1 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast nationally on CBS.

Pittsburgh started the season with one of its worst performances in years in a 35-7 loss to Baltimore as a one-point road underdog. It has gone on to shutout Seattle 24-0 as a 13.5-point home favorite and squeak by Indianapolis 23-20 as a 10.5-point road favorite to move to 2-1 straight up (1-2 against the spread) on the year.

Consistency has been a huge issue for this team so far, especially for Steelers’ quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. He has thrown for 942 yards and three touchdowns, but has also been picked-off four times and has lost four fumbles. This type of sloppy play will not get it done against the Texans this Sunday.
Houston roared to a 2-0 start by outscoring its opponents 57-20, but ran into a buzz saw last week in the Superdome. The Texans stood toe-to-toe with the high-powered Saints’ offense all game long, but in the end came up short in a 40-33 loss as 3.5-point road underdogs.

All-Pro running back Arian Foster is expected to be ready to go for this game after missing most of the first three with a strained hamstring. Ben Tate has done an excellent job in a back-up role with 301 yards on 66 carries. All-Pro wide receiver Andre Johnson is off to another great start with 21 receptions for 316 yards and two touchdowns.

The Steelers are just 2-4 ATS in their last six games on the road in NFL betting predictions, but 9-3 SU in their last 12 games on the road. The total has gone ‘over’ in four of their last five road games.

The Texans are 3-7 in their last 10 games following an ATS loss and 4-9 SU in their last 13 games overall. The total has gone ‘over’ in four of their last six games at home and in eight of their last 12 games overall.

These two team have not played one another since Pittsburgh rolled to a 38-17 win at home as a 6.5-point favorite in 2008. Houston has the advantage at home this time around, but the Steelers are 4-1 ATS in their last four games as 3.5-point or higher underdogs.

The Pick: Houston 24   Pittsburgh 21
