Texas is 3-0 for the fifth straight year and ninth time under the direction of head coach Mack Brown.  Saturday will mark the first time the Longhorns have played consecutive games on the road within the first four weeks of the season since 1998.

The program will be aiming to gain revenge from a 28-21 loss to Iowa State last year as 21-point home favorites, coming in with a 3-0 all-time record in Ames.  Texas has tallied an 11-2 record in Big 12 Conference openers under Brown’s direction.

“They did come in here and embarrass us,” commented Longhorns safety Blake Gideon.

The Longhorns will be coming off a bye week, something that has treated the team well over the years, coming in with a 16-4 record following regular-season bye weeks.

Offensively, Texas is being led by the quarterback duo of Case McCoy and David Ash, who took over the spot under center from the benched Garrett Gilbert.

College football sportsbook bettors will find that the Longhorns are 10-18 ATS over the last two-plus campaigns and the ‘under’ is 17-12 over that span.

Iowa State improved to 3-0 with a 24-20 road win over Connecticut and has tallied a 2-1 ATS record, picking up outright wins as four and 6.5-point underdogs.  The Cyclones picked up a 44-41 win over the Iowa Hawkeyes on Oct. 10.

The Cyclones have trailed in the fourth quarter in all three games this season, but completed a comeback in each contest.  The team returned 16 starters from a year ago, looking to improve upon the 5-7 overall mark and 3-5 record in the Big 12.

The program is 4-11 all-time in Big 12 Conference openers and knows that Saturday’s opponent is angry after last season’s loss.  “I know that’s one of the things on their mind.  We came to their home field and beat them,” commented Iowa State defensive back Ter’ran Benton.  “They want to come to our home field and beat us.”

The Cyclones haven’t won their first four games of a season since 2000 and will need to improve upon their minus-five turnover differential to make it happen.

When making your college football betting picks this Saturday, Iowa State is 8-6 ATS at home and the ‘under’ has cashed in eight of 12 contests.
